Saw the movie, haven't read the book. From what I understand, though, the book should probably have been marketed as a fiction story based on true events rather than an autobiographical account. Then you have a movie "based on the book" and now we have two layers of separation from reality.
The movie was just ok, if taken as a pure fictional story.
