Weatherby maintenance

Hey I've just bought a new weatherby vanguard synethtic in .243WIN. I wanted to know how often should I throughly clean the barrel with bore brush, copper solvent ect(so many rounds??). Right now I put a clean patch through it and oil every time after i take it out.

If you are cleaning from the breach until you get a clean patch, then you're doing OK. You can look into the muzzle with a flashlight and if you see copper streaks, then use copper solvent.

I like Butch's Bore Shine because it cuts powder residue and copper at the same time. Just be sure to follow up with a good gun oil like FP-10 because Butch's isn't a preservative.
