I recently inherited a Savage/Stevens 325 B (an old bolt action for those who dont know this gun). While oberving it just a few minutes ago, i noticed that sometimes when i cycle the bolt with the safety on, it automatical flicks the safety to the fire postion. I just thought this was weird because most bolt actions seem to move the safety to the "on" position. My question, is this normal? Are there other guns that do this also?

Thanks, Zach

I have a Savage 340 that does the same thing. I think these are
trigger blocking mechanisms; and as such should not be trusted.
As opposed to a device that actually blocks the firing pin.
