Hello all,

I would like to know about Westley Scott shotguns. Are they ok? are they crap? Any info would be excellent. Good or bad reviews, I want personal opinions and facts. Thank you very much.

I am a dealer, and just ordered a few of these in. I can say I was impressed by the overall quality, especially the walnut stocked models. The gas system appears to be a clone of the older Beretta, and the metal finish was very good. We demo'd a 20 ga model and it fired everything from 3/4oz Winchester promo loads, to 3"mag steel without any failures. A nice gun for the price, but only time will tell how they hold up in the long run.

Seems someone combined names from a few famous British makers - possibly to instigate some confusion as to their quality?

There is a Westley Richards, and a Webley Scott

Are these made in Turkey or China or ????????

They are Turkish, I am wondering if these are from the same factory that was making the S&W autos? They look almost identical.

IF they are made by the UTAS folks, they should be well built - whether or not you can get service and parts is something else. I have the S&W Elite Gold SxS and it is far and away better than the Turkish Huglu guns. If their semis are even close to the quality, fit and finish, it should be a good gun

I just bought one and really like the quality for the money. They are built built UTAS in turkey. They are a Beretta choke tube and the magazine threads fit a 870(I tried it from my 870 and it worked fine minus the threads are taller on the Westley Scott so you would need a sling bracket as a spacer or file the end down to use a mag tube extender for tactical reasons). These are also the same exact guns as the Weatherby SA-08. except the Weatherby comes with 2 gas regulator valves, one for light loads and one for heavy loads (felt recoil is the only difference with the heavy load regulator so it is not essential for proper operation). I have heard good things about the Weatherby but have not tested mine yet. I'll let you know when I do.

test day

just took mine out for a day of testing. Once I got it home I stripped it down and cleaned it well and also liberally oiled it with rem oil. Took it to the range and fired 300 rounds of handloads through it shooting skeet. I was very happy with the functioning. very consistent patterns and rate of fire was excellent. Gun was light and recoil was not to bad with light loads. Now for they bad news, while shooting I had 2 double feeds, when pulling the trigger for a follow up shot a shell would pop out of the tube into the receiver and the hammer would not release causing a misfire. The trigger is a little sticky and you have to make sure you release it all the way to set the sear. this just took a little getting used to. The last thing is the front fiber optic sight broke in half. cheap and easy fix with a 10 dollar aftermarket fiber optic from sight from Walmart. My opinion, excellent shotgun for hunting or occasional trap/skeet shooting. gun is worth well over 300 dollars. From the quality and function it should cost around 450 dollars. I am very happy with mine and would recommend it to some one else as long as they are

Does the Wesley & Scott semi automatic shotgun use an O ring like the remington semi automatics?
