I have a 3'' ruger SP 101,it's the 5 shot version, but built like a tank. I took it to a gunsmith and he polished it up and lightened the trigger a bit , now it's soooo smooth ! The gunsmith may be the cure......?

OP wants adjustable rear sights.

If 4", good trigger and adjustable sights are your criteria, go get yourself just about anything in a K, L or N-frame S&W in .357 and go to work. Next question! :D

Seriously, your 629 has a fine DA trigger, the big N-frames generally have good triggers. I actually sold my 629, finding with my small hands I prefer the smaller size of the K/L frame (same grip size, the L is just larger to "handle" the .357 Magnum "better").

These two are my choices, a no-dash 586 with Ahrends stock in maple, and a 19-5 with a Hogue wood monogrip, not sure which wood as it was used and came this way:

Additionally, part of the trick to the DA triggers is learning the technique for managing them. You drive your hand as far up the backstrap as possible and work the trigger in one smooth motion. I very, very rarely shoot my DA revolvers in SA anymore. Properly executed you give up little, if any accuracy. But also know, I actually dislike the "glass-rod" sensation so many think is the perfect trigger action, prefering a little more tactile feedback, like double-action triggers, Glock triggers, two-stage rifle triggers. (Just don't confuse preference for being unable to use a good 1911 or SA trigger... :p )

Original Colt Trooper 1969 and earlier

Python action for maybe 1/3 the cost of a Python. I can almost shoot as well in double action as single, really.
