Mine are, in order from favorite on down:

1. Burris Signature Select 1.5-6x40mm
2. Bushnell Elite 6500, 2.5-16x50mm, side focus (probably soon to become my favorite)
3. Nikon Omega, 3-9x40mm, (this is a "Monarch" line scope supposedly)
4. Sightron S2, 4.5-14x42mm AO
5. Trijicon Accupoint 1.25-4x24mm
6. Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5-10x40mm
7. Sightron S2, 1.5-6x42mm
8. Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50mm, side focus
9. Leupold Vari-X I, 1.0-4x20mm, heavy reticle
10. Bushnell Elite 4200, 6-24x40mm AO

Honorable mentions to Sightron S2 3-9x42mm, Bushnell Elite 3200 2-7x32, and Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40.

I only have one scope, it is a Weaver 2.5 x 7 x 28 or something like that, it is for a rimfire. Sorry I can't add anything to the thread, I am new to guns and optics, however, I could use some advice. I bought the scope for a mini 14, the guy who sold it to me said you can put a rimfire scope on a centerfire rifle. Any opinions? I don't want to look like a sissy out at the range ha ha

Weaver classic series. Cheap and they work. Adjustments are spot on.

Generally you can. The differences are usually a smaller objective and power range as you're at shooting closer ranges, and the parralax is set at a closer range (like 50 yards as opposed to 150 yards).

I use Redfield Widefield 2-7 on my Remington 700 BDL, 30/06. All I've ever needed. Don't know why companies don't make that widefield scope anymore; was nice for shooting whitetails on the run.

You could argue that the Leupold VXL is the modern version of that.

As has been mentioned, yes you can use the "rimfire scope" on a centerfire. The parallax-free setting is probably at 50 yards though, so a small error will be introduced at 100 and beyond if your head isn't centered in the scope. Not ideal, but it will work for hunting accuracy, particularly if you're good at keeping your head centered.

Also, with all due respect, frankly you guys suck at "playing the game":

Kinda wishin I'd put this in the rifle thread; it would seem a lot of folks don't get over this way. I understand if you've got just one, then that's your favorite - that's fine and makes sense to me. But I *know* there's lots of guys with more than 5 scopes on this board, in addition to those with less than 5. Hmmmm.

Have many more than the five listed, but these are my favorites. Probably easier to post pics so you can view them.

Colt Sauer w/Swarovski Habicht (Steel 30mm) 2.2X9 X 42 (Excellent clarity for low light hunting conditions) Conetrol rings and bases.

SAR 4800 w/Swarovski Nova 3-9X36A (Budget line from Swarovski, superb low light gathering, one inch tube, very rugged) Kimber QD rings and bases.


DPMS AR15 w/Leupold 6.5X20 Target dot (Great for long distance dog shooting, precise incremental adjustments)

Winchester 52 w/Lyman 20X Target Spot (Vintage period scope to match the era of precision smallbore competitions....will easily shoot "fly's" at 100 yards)

Armalite AR10 w/Aimpoint CompM2 (Great optics that work well with BUIS sights)

S&W 41 w/Aimpoint 2000 (Perhaps dated to the 1980's, but very rugged and easy to acquire target)

Weaver "T" series (36x shown) turn it admirable performances and hold zero as reliably as comparable Leupold 36x in benchrest shooting.


Other Weavers did not enjoy the same reputation yet still performed adequately in a certain usage:

I am actually quite partial to the 4-16x40mm Weaver Classic.

Just got a 4.5-14x44mm SF Zeiss Conquest, and it looks like it'll be on my favorite list. I tend to go for scopes that are reasonably sized.
