What caliber for spiders?

Nasty critters with a painful bite. 20 years later, and I've still got a nice dimple in my forearm from a recluse.

I can only imagine the trauma your friend is going through from the lost use of his hand. My best wishes to him.

You can use too much gun...

Out desert camping, a friend woke up beady to beady with a scorpion.

Fortunately, he wasn't stung. Unfortunately, he had his Ruger Super Blackhawk close at hand.

We had just enough time for a chorus of sustained Nooooooooos!!! before he blew sand, copper, lead, bug, and pillow all over camp.

If stupidity kills -- how come were not dead?

I have a naturally high pain tolerance so I can easily take serious damage without realizing it. This can be very scary at times so I have learned over time to take precautions and see a doctor if I suspect something is wrong. I have had more ER visits over the last 5 years then the rest of my life prior due to my lifestyle. A couple of them were false alarms including one that got an ambulance at my door over a very ugly but miraculously harmless bike accident. Even though they were false alarms, the medics still told me that I made the right decision, as all too often, they see really ugly things happen because the victim was worried it might be a false alarm. I also don't know how many cases I've heard of and even seen where people felt a little weird, a friend or relative tells them they should see a doctor to make sure all is well, they insist it's not a problem, and end up going to bed for the last time that night. Apparently it's an ego trip for some people. To such, got news for you. You may be tough, but you're not a god. The best work out plan in the world will not make you bullet proof. It's not worth being permanently crippled or dead to prove that you can handle pain. You shouldn't even associate the two with each other. There is a difference between being in pain and having the strings that hold your body together cut.
