Earlthegoat2,no offence intended...it is a classic tho'

None taken, WantaB.

If you look closer you will see I am the one that suggested it up at post number 58. I dont consider it a short magnum though because it came around before the short magnum name came around and it does not have a rebated rim.

Earlthegoat2...Ah yes,quite right,indeed you were...Glad no offence was taken.
Your suggestion is the one that braught me back to a "short magnum" type project I have been thinking of for some time now,off and on. I realy like the new Brownchesters and feel one would make a great base for it. I too am not sure of the rebated rims. That is why I have been looking at the Ruger Compact Magnums. A .358-.300RCM would be sort of a .350RemMag AI and would have no rebated rim.:)

7.62x39...I am another one of those guys that have been looking at a compact boltaction in this chambering...with iron sights as well. I have been taking a close look at the CZs in this. I would realy like a Winchester in it.. They are just so nice and well made!:)

Quick tally of the most requested...
.260Rem.=16
6.5x55Swede=12
7x57=8
9.3x62=7
.257Roberts=7
I would settle for either the .260Rem (as I mentioned earlier)...or the 6.5x55...or the 6.5Creedmoor...or anything else with a .308ish case capacity and 6.5mm projectile.

For what reason I don't know (already have a .375H&H that fills the same role), but I would also like to see a 9.3x64Brenneke. dunno.gif

Ooooh...9.3x64 Brenneke!! One of the first dozen rifles I purchased was a Styer in 9.3x64B. MY first synthetic stocked bolt action. Have not shot it in more than 4 yrs:eek:!! I'll not part with it tho'.

6.5mm...Yeh,28! I think .260Rem. is my first choice...currently. Must be fast twist,I completely agree!
Giving LOTS of thought to converting one of the all stainless/walnut shot show guns to it.:scrutiny::)
