What did you shoot today?

Tweaking .22 Data for SK Long Range for the Vudoo. Shot from 50 to 161 yards, pretty much dead on +/- a tenth.
Shot 10 rounds on 1" to 2" Shooting Targets 7 KYL I put up today. Wind made it extremely challenging at 150 yards.
In 15 rounds I never did anything but barely scrape the 1 1/4" and 1" paddles. Baaaaaarely made them move.
The 161.5 yard 6" & 4" targets hiding in the background have hits on them. Dope is ready to go I think, gotta check at distance.

Nice day to get out in SW Pa.
I ordered and got a custom dial for my Tikka mounted Leupold VX5HD.

I had to send in the G1 BC of my 160 gr Hammer Hunter bullets, the velocity at avg 3255, elevation and temp.
I put the old original dial in, shot close to zero, switched out to the custom dial.

i only fired 4 rounds after making a few scope adjustments at 200.

I dialed up to 300 and fired a round, moved up to the 400 notch and fired a round, dialed back to 300 and shot and finally back to 400 and shot the last round.

I was very happy with how the scope tracked up and back. I need to load more and run a few strings up and down but am limited to 400 at my range.

Nothing.

I loaded up the Savage M10 223, and headed to the local club. I wanted to do some cleanup work out there, before it got too hot. I figured I would work for a while, then shoot. You know, like what Dad always said; Work first, play second.

I ended up too tired to shoot. I just headed back home.

New lesson learned: Shoot first, then work.

It's not like I'm getting paid for the work at the club.

Fired 4 different guns at the club today. Tried the Henry H001 .22 lever gun at 50 yards for the first time since it got the Leupold 1-4x that was formerly on my .30-30. Checked zero on the M-1A with its hunting load at both 50 & 100 yards. It never got out as planned last fall for deer because life got in the way and I spent more hunting time than usual with the 12 ga. slug gun and the .44 Mag. Ruger Redhawk. Also tried the M1-A's .308 hunting load except with a 150 gr. Speer Hot-Cor in place of the more expensive 150 Gr. Nosler Accubond. The good news is that the Speers are grouping just as good or better than the Accubonds. Where I hunt with that gun, it can be rested for best stability using iron sights, and you may never get a shot much over 100 yards; bet a deer couldn't tell the difference between either bullet at those ranges. Put some lead downrange in one of the pistol bays at 30 yards with the Redhawk using some 255 gr. hard cast, gas checked, Keith style bullets that I recently got from Montana Bullet Works. They work good. Then the 4" S&W Model 686 .357 with some +P+ 38 Special handloads with some 158 gr. H.P. Winchester bullets that I picked up as components years ago. The rain held off, no wind, and the temps almost hit 60, if not for the cloud cover, it would have been warmer. IMG_0059.JPG .. IMG_0068.JPG .. IMG_0084.JPG .. IMG_0086.JPG ..

To commemorate Patriots Day yesterday our muzzle loader club had us shooting redcoats .
(OK, it was just these red Appleseed tombstone targets, no actual redcoats were harmed.)

Anyway, I shot my flint lock fowling piece and managed to score a 50/50 at the 25 yard distance.
Considering it was offhand, windy and cold I thought that was pretty good for an old guy shooting a smoothbore with no rear sight.
(Not that I can see a rear sight these days anyway... 🙄)

Shot our monthly Steel Challenge match today with my Ruger 10/22. Had a wonderful day. Weather was perfect at 92° and not a cloud in the sky or the slightest breeze. It was my best score to date. Nothing to brag about but I'm really enjoying this little rifle. It's so much fun compared to my pistol. Guess I'm just tired of shooting handguns.

I only compete with myself and did well. I did have one other shooter that was close to me and I would have beat him if not for the 12 mandatory penalties I get because I shoot from a wheelchair. On Outer Limits, since I have to shoot it all from the center box I get a 4 second penalty per run. Oh well, I understand it. Another wheelchair shooter set the record on this stage and the powers-to-be thought that was unfair.

I cleaned my gun last night. Must have been my problem because I had a number of jams today. It may just be the one magazine. I'll have to check it out in practice before the next match.
