I picked this up today for a song. Don't know what it is, maybe a mauser or an Enfield 303? It has a Star with kind of a Christmas Tree kindof emblem inside it. Anyone know what it is?

Oh man, that one is too easy. Looks to be in pretty good shape, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. There is endless info on Mosin Nagant's on the web.

"...Mosin Nagant 91/30..." Yep. Uses 7.62 x 54 Rimmed. AKA 7.62 Russian, 7.62 x 54R.
Why would you buy a rifle if you don't know what it is? Just curious.

This would have to be an EARLY 91/30 to have that sort of bare front sight; most 91/30 production was fitted with a ring-shrouded front, instead of the bare blade of the 91; is there a date on the receiver (usually marked like "1932r", where the "r" is a Cyrillic "g", standing for "godu" or "year")?

Man I should have known that it was a Mosin. Just had a brain fart. Most I see are sporterized. It says 1937. I did all right today. I got this, a 1973 Ruger 10/22 in great shape (after I put the trigger group back together), a Jennings J-22 that just needs a magazine, a Marlin Model 55 12ga bolt action Goose Gun in fair shape, a Bauer 25 automatic and a Davis 22wmr derringer. All for a song!

I looks like it is a Soviet Mosin and the front sight appears to be an early model. It has the round low wall receiver.
