I remember reading about this rifle and seeing it in the store for something like $2k+ with the ammo being $40 a box for .25-250 (I think). Now I never see a thing about this rifle and CDNN has the ammo for cheap. I guess Remington pulled the plug on this rifle?

Given Remington's history of nonsupport for proprietary products I wouldn't touch one with a ten foot poll.

If indeed the EtronX is on the scrap heap it joins the 5mm Remington, 6.5 Remington Magnum and a list of lesser known products that arrived on the market to great fanfare only to be abandoned when sales didn't meet the satisfaction of the bean counters.

As a gunmaker Remington is giving every indication of being a spent force. The quality control is in a tailspin as evidenced by a direct comparison of any recently made product with one from a even a decade ago.

Lets not forget the short lived viper .22. If there ever was an abortion of a .22 this was it. The only reason Remington brought it out to replace the very popular Nylon 66 was the fact that they actually admitted they were too damn cheap to spend the money on a new set of dies to mold the nylon stocks for the 66. The Nylon 66 was as popular as ever when they pulled the plug on it.

Now we have another real beauty the Plastic Fantastic 712. Lets hope this p.o.s dies a quick death too.

The Etronix is in the 2003 catalog---I had the same question myself.

CDNN is offering then for $589 in their newest catalog---not that I'd ever buy one.

Etronix - lets make a rifle who's only advantage is a super fast lock time so that all of the target shooters will want it, but takes special primers that we won't sell as componants so that those target shooters can't re-load their ammo like they all insist on doing.

Makes lots of sense to me.

interesting points... I hate it when a company releases something cool, and then offers NO support.

I had an idea, tho...

What if they could make a rifle cartridge with an electic ignition, but with some kind of plug, instead of a primer... this would eliminate the need to replace primers.

Just a thought... but then, I bet noone will support it, even if they did make it....

I heard, after an initial delay in producing the primers, they had a "bad batch":scrutiny: and there was more delay...

My immediate and paranoid thought was: " Gee, how cool. Make that the only legal primer, then cut off supply...:what:
I guess the gummint and big green wouldn't really do that...

A little slower locktime is where the skill comes in, right?

I've wondered if the EtronX rifle and/or ammunition might not be a good investment as a collectors piece?

Heaven knows I wouldn't have a use for such a thing other than that.
