On the CZ-85 Combat Model it features a over-travel adjustable trigger. Mike from CZ said it is set at the factory in it's optimum setting. does that have an effect on the looong CZ trigger or not.

Overtravel is the amount of play left in the trigger after it trips the sear. Triggers with adjustable overtravel allow you to limit the amount of trigger movement after the sear is tripped. You have to have some, but on most service pistols, it's way more than you need. Won't do anything to reduce the reach of the trigger.

The overtravel is the trigger movement after the sear releases. Unfortunately, it doesn't totally eliminate the long pull. However, the Combat doesn't have the firing pin block, which eliminates some of the takeup and improves the break. The combination of features helps quite a bit.

I've never owned an 85 Combat, so I am basing this off of CZ 75s without the block.

Just remember to apply a drop of lock-tite to the over travel screw if you decide to make any adjustments. Lost mine the same day as I fooled with it, found it a few days later on the floor.
