1” thick mild steel plate and 50 BMG ball (223 bullet to the side for scale).
The other dent is from “Marlin” loaded 45-70 JHP.
The 2 outer hits are AP, displaces the metal more than the API (center hit).
API appears to hit and “stick” to the face of the steel plate, then blows something through the plate that looks like a clean punched hole.
Both the AP and API will obviously go right through the 1” steel plate but will also go through the 8” diameter oak tree it was leaning against, then over 3 feet (longest rod I had with us) deep into a natural (not fluffy piled up) red clay embankment.
