What Is Mayor Bloomberg Asking the Feds to do?

Tonight I heard Mayor Bloomberg speak about the cop who was shot in the arm today and who will be okay, the cop shot in the head two weeks ago and who will be okay, and the cop killed a couple of months ago amd who left behind four daughters.

Mr. Bloomberg said the common thread was that the guns were illegal and that nothing can be done in New York until the Feds do more.

Seriously, what does Mayor Bloomberg realistically expect from the Feds that the Feds have not already done? A national one month waiting period? racial profiling on the New Jersey Turnpike?

Anyone know what Mayor Bloomberg has in mind?

Just like all the other fascist trash - Bloomberg probably wants as much banned as he can possibly get banned. It's not realistic, and I'm not even sure how much pull Bloomberg really has at this point outside of the NY area. Good news though - things are more pro-gun than ever these days, and people are beginning to see the light about the whole "armed and polite society" thing.

^^^^

BINGO!!! just another anti gun liberal with presidential aspirations, milking all the free advertisement he can get, and stepping on the rights of others to feed his god complex.

just mho

+1. He is a politician.

1st priority: get reelected

2nd priority: get reelected

3rd priority: get reelected

4th priority: change the laws so he can accomplish the first 3 priorities

To do this, Bloomberg needs all the face time he can get from the media and NYC is the hub of media

What he wants is to have the federal government enact the entire NYC firearms code. He either believes (or just says) that the Big Apple's firearms-related crime is largely caused by loose gun regulation in other states.

Perhaps additional regulation of controled substances might eliminate his city's problems in that area too? :scrutiny:

As for running for higher office: If the POTUS was elected by nothing but NYC voters he might make it, but when he moves to a larger stage he won't stand a chance.

As a NY'er (not NY City thank god!) I can tell you that Bloomberg is HATED here for his stance on guns. The fact is that he is in lock step with people like Carolyn McCarthy and Chucky Schumer when it comes to gun control. Simply put, he doesn't think you should have them. He also conveniently overlooks the fact that if those of us who legally CC in NY State were allowed to carry in NY City, more criminals would think twice about carrying their illegal guns around the city.

I doubt he overlooks that fact, NYSportsman. He just wouldn't want any of his constituents inconvenienced or any of his "army" of police officers shown up by ordinary citizens.

Bloomberg and other anti-Second Amendment bigots aren't completely ignorant of the facts: they simply don't like them. They know law-abiding citizens don't commit crimes with firearms. They know we use firearms defensively over a million times a year. They know people with CCW permits, on average, commit fewer felonies per year than cops. They know all that and the rest of it—and they also know people who believe they're dependent on government for their safety are more willing to vote for higher taxes and more government intrusion into everyone's daily life. As far as they're concerned, rights are a bother. They work day and night to grow government and make sure their powers and privileges are protected.

Mike Bloomberg is  and we don`t like him in the North Country :fire::cuss:.
Many of us think of NYC as a destination to avoid :banghead:
In fact, if someone used a giant chainsaw ,cut NYC away from the United States of America and towed it to a place more to Bloomberg`s liking, say Cuba or Russia -:neener: a lot of people here probably wouldn`t get all worked up about it.

It seems things are starting to turn in our direction in general, hopefully Bloomberg will fall on deaf ears.

Oh, there is something he cad do. He can keep the violent criminals locked up. Problem solved.

Bloomberg isn't anti 2A, he's just anti 2A for anyone who isn't rich and powerful. He has no problem with his friends having guns. Someone should ask him why does he have a personal goon squad? Why can't anyone else carry a gun but he's allowed to have his goon squad armed?

Actually don't ask him anything just throw him in prison for treason.

I could be wrong, but I doubt he has any concrete proposals (or at least, none that he actually believes the feds will enact). My guess is that he's just taking yet another opportunity to blame NYC's crime problem on everyone but NYC criminals (because as everyone knows, criminals don't cause crime, legally owned firearms from neighboring states do).

He doesn't want the Feds to do anything. Frankly, I don't believe he would care one way or the other if there was no registration/permit system whatsoever.

He is such a narcissist, that he believes people actually care what goes on in NYC.

I just finished a book by Michael Crichton. A quote he made at the end is a definition of Bloomberg's politics

"The current near-hysterical preoccupation with with safety is at best a waste of resources... and at worst an invitation to totalitarianism"

Bloomie is term limited.
He can't run for reelection. He's out sometime in 2013.

This is the false assumption people made in 2008/2009

In the fall of 2008, Bloomberg successfully campaigned for an amendment to New York City's term- limits law, in order to allow him to run for a third term in 2009. He will try to pull the same maneuver again to hang on to power.

We all should care what people like Bloomberg are doing and saying. It doesn't matter if you live in a state far, far away. These are the kind of idiots that end up with more power than any of us ever intended. If you don't think he is priming for the Federal stage, you're sadly mistaken. Pretty soon, we may all be dealing with his lunacy.

Remember, there are more Republicans/Conservatives in America than there are Liberals/Democrats. Also, we have something like 80 million gun owners in America with an approximate total of 258 million guns. Yet look at the WH and the Senate. It's simply mind boggling how these Liberals win elections, but they do and we pay the price.

Don't underestimate the power of money, media and total bull**** over the average American.
