What is the biggest POS with a most ridiculous price tag you ever seen at a gun show?

around here anything old (in good condition or not) with the names smith and wesson or colt on them
seriously there is a shop in my area that has non functioning firearms for collecting purposes that have prices between 900-2000 dollars non of them function non of them are in any kind of good shape but they are "collectors" items to this shop owner and he thinks broken guns without papers are worth way more than they really are

case in point they had an old colt pocket model .32 for 850 and it was rusted solid with no springs in it because they broke and was being sold as is for that price
a buddy of mine has one in complete working order in about 80% condition finish and it wont fetch $400

Gunshows here in San Antonio selling 22lr bulk ammo for double the price of what Walmart sells them. Like Oceans says I hope they eat all the ammo and primers they hoarded. I don't go to them any longer. I am out $10 before I ever set foot inside the showroom. From now on I deal with FFL's or purchse on my own.

Hello friends and neighbors // I recently saw an immitation Adams and Thurber.

I was a cheap repro kit, six shot percussion revolver made in the 1970s and I'm sure it had part of a door knob as a shroud around the cylinder.
It did not work so they dropped the price from $300 to $100 for the "antique".

There were no manuf. markings at all.
Maybe to some folks a 40 year old kit gun is an antique but not at my house.

A different fellow tried to sell me an old ,pre 1900 ,top break, S&W ,Secret Service Special, it has SSS on the top of the grips and S&W on the barrel because it uses a S&W cartridge.

The revolver is actually an old Ivers and Johnson copy. He was going to be kind enough to sell it to me "today" For $350 down from $500, because he needed to make another purchase.

Did I mention it was spray painted black.:scrutiny:

I went to the Saxet Gun Show here in San Antonio Saturday. $3 bucks for parking and $5 bucks to get in. I went up and down every isle. Looked at every table. Piles and piles of absolute junk. I saw nothing I could not buy through Bud's Gun Shop cheaper and with a warranty. Ammo is still a joke. WalMart is cheaper and has plenty of stock compared to these morons selling at the gun shows. NCStar Chinese garbage for 30% higher prices than you can get on the internet. Total garbage laid out.
They should change the name to the Saxet Junk Show.
I am the moron for giving them my $8 bucks. Not again I assure you.

But to answer the Op's question. I laughed out loud when I saw a Saiga 7.62X39 all "tricked out" with the latest in TAPCO/Chinese garbage for $1000 bucks.

And by the way....{rant on} folks buy all these weapons and are so fat they cannot hardly walk. Lose some weight and get in shape people or your weapons are useless. Bunch of lard butts....it was painful to even look at some of these obese slobs. {rant off}

It wasn't a gun show, but on another forum, some guy was selling an MPA mac 10. He said it was over $1,100 new, but he needed to sell it quick for $700.
I feel bad if he really paid that much.

You know, a little while back, I bought an Android smartphone. It has unlimited web access. Best thing I ever got in terms of gun buying. I was in a shop a little while back, and the guy saw me looking at coach guns. He offered me a "steal" at only 600 bucks on the Stoeger. I declined, since I had just discovered, thanks to my phone, that the MSRP was under 500. He was not amused.

It's amazing what a quick google or gunbroker search will turn up. Gives you a whole lotta leverage in terms of price.

I haven't been to a gun show since I got the phone, but there's one coming up in a couple weeks, and I think I'll go pay my 5 bucks to get in, and I'll bring my phone. I'm no expert at what all is out there, and if I see something I like, who knows? It might just be a deal!

We don't have "gun shows" any more...but no one would show up if the called them what they REALLY are - "Chinese Knife and Beef Jerky Show".

You can never tell. For example, I don't have much use for Chinese knives, but I'm rather fond of beef jerky.

I know a guy who paid 190 for an old stevens 67e. It was in pretty good shape but after shooting it I'm beginning to think 190 was plenty.

When the Walther P1 9mm's were being imported, a gun show dealer was selling them for $239 out the door...Great price, I bought one...As I walked around the show, other dealers were selling them for $400...Yes, the exact same imports.

Last gun show I went to, I bought ammo for my .40, a cheap chinese knife, and some beef jerky... I spent more on the beef jerky than the ammo and knife combined and I got more enjoyment out of it as well... Be very careful buying ammo from the gun show... If you buy reloads, get them from an established vendor that also has at the least, some kind of contact information other than an email address, and preferably a brick and mortar store somewhere.

3 cracked cases, 2 squibs and a handful of primers seated too deeply.

Sometimes you get great deals though. I outsmarted some back-country Bubba and snapped up a commemorative John Wayne limited edition Raven .25 for only $975!!! I still laugh when I picture the look on his face when I threw down the money.

I actually enjoy the tables at the very back of the gun shows that are not selling guns. Some people sell cool gears for cheap prices.

dogdollar is so right, the gunshow this weekend in Houston was almost pathetic, but I wouldn't have given it that much credit.

One table had 3 XD 9's for the low price of $1000 plus Tax, it was the kit with the holster, spare mag carrier and to top it off it only came with one mag, ect ...I hacked him off when I told the potential buyer there, hey, that whole set-up is like only 600 at the most at academy and you get an extra mag.

Other thing that was whacked was a Lee Enfield for $500, with a beaver chewed stock, missing forestock, pitted barrel and bent sights, the story was that the stock was where the M-16 bullets hit it in WW2!! Saved his daddy's life HE SWEARS!!

Wow, I purchased what I needed from one of the few reputable dealers at a not so outragous price and got out after I saw that.

Ike, I'm thinking you might know this already, but the HGCA shows (there are two a year, I think) are actually pretty enjoyable. They are at Reliant, and there's one this month (Sept 18-19). No bets on great prices, but the amount of gear is usually amazing.

HGCA shows are held 4 times a year.

They are the only gun show I visit any more (they have higher standards than the shamwow, jewelry, jerky and gun shows).

Get their schedule and other info: Houston Gun Collector's Association

I saw a 10/22 with a dragonov stock, and some airsoft acceccories (flashlight and laser) literally electrical taped to it....the guy was trying to get me to buy it for the low price of $475....was trying to convince me "Its the same thing as the M-16 the guys are using overseas...22 caliber..."

They have shamwows at the gun shows?? :what:

Whit I find particularly amusing are M1 Rifles that will swallow a muzzle gauge sitting in stocks that have NO DAS or Proof stamps, with a mix of worn finish or mismatched finish with over $1,000 price tags, when a field grade at the CMP is only $495 or a service grade is only $595.

Well, i could buy a CMP Correct Grade for what I see some overpriced rack grade M1s have on their price tags.

I'm not into any re-loaded ammo - no facility to do it myself and don't trust anyone elses, so I stay away from it. I also refuse to load paki, indi or any chicom etc. ammo in my US service rifles. So I only get US or NATO headstamped stuff.

SOME calibers you can get decent prices on - e.g., Winchester 7.62mm NATO, if you buy a case. For the most part, I buy my user .30 cal rifle & carbine ammo from CMP, pistol ammo from wally world, or an internet site when they have secent sale prices. My stash of 5.56mm is so large, I'm actually selling some M193 and M855/ SS109, so no need for any of that caliber for a while.

I look for small things, but even then, not very many decent buys out there. Some things like carbine stripper clips are absurdly priced at shows compared to any of a dozen internet sites.

So unless its for the fun of looking around and seeing all the pink plastic stocks and pistol frames, it's not not so much fum any more - plus parking and admission in FL is more expensive than TX. Maybe i'll go to a couple in the fall...

FN FiveSeven, Sombody really needs to come out with another / better pistol chambered for this caliber... $1200 for a $500 pistol is way too much. FNH would sell a lot more pistols, amunition and accessories if wasn't so overpriced. I might even buy one... probably not, rather have a keltec PMR-30 and 2000 rounds of ammo.

KodiakBeer you are kidding right $975 for a Raven .25acp?

Yeah, if memory serves there was a metric buttload of them at the Raleigh gun show a couple of years ago. One of the bigger friggin tables there. :banghead:

One table had 3 XD 9's for the low price of $1000 plus Tax

:what:

Now that almost beats the $1,000 plain jane Russian SKS I mentioned seeing in an earlier post.

At the other end of the spectrum, the last gun show I went to in a nearby town was pretty small, and there was nothing there I was interested in, but some of the prices were pretty darn good. For example, NIB S&W M&P 9mms and .40s for $460, BEFORE the $50 mail-in rebate ($410 plus tax). Heck, I almost bought one for that price, and I'm not a big fan of tupperware. Several brand new Ruger P89s for $300. A lightly used S&W Sigma 9mm for $250. A 6" Ruger Security Six for $350 (not excellent, but a good price). NIB Taurus snub .38 and .357 revolvers for $320 - $380.

So deals can still be found.

I often find myself wondering if there is a Beef Jerky show out there somewhere, and if so, does it sell mostly guns?

The last gun show I attended (over a year ago) was in Raleigh. My only purchase was some excellent beef jerky.

"What is the biggest POS with a most ridiculous price tag you ever seen at a gun show?!"

It was the dirty fat guy selling overpriced Nazi stuff.

A JOHN WAYNE commemorative .25 Raven! I figure it's worth at least 3K because they only made 77,000 of them between 1967 and 1983.
