that in all the proposed legislation revealed today, that there could be intents (hidden or obvious) to ban reloading/handloading ammunition; or at a minimum place huge taxes or other obstacles upon the reloading component industries? IMO it would be a shame to place any additional obstacles on such a respectable and time honored tradition, let alone hurt primarily US based businesses in the process, with from my limited experience, have excellent customer service.

All I see in the 23 EO's that could possibly effect reloading is:

The proposed Armor Piercing ammo ban included under the assault weapons ban.
Depending on the intent & interpretation?

It could be used to cover pulled / surplus military bullets like the M855 with a steel "penetrator" insert.
Or all "assault rifle" caliber ammo in general.
Or steel jacket 7.62x39 or 7.62-54R Russian ammo.
Or even any rifle bullet capable of defeating police body armor, like your granddads 30-30 Winchester.

The fact that the M855 bullet is not a steel-core penetrator at all, but is used to move the center of gravity rearward for better tumbling effect, will be lost or ignored by politicians and the news media.

The other more worrisome one is,
giving the CDC the power & 10 million dollars to include small arms ammo
in its research of disease and related "public health crisis".

The CDC has already tried to outlaw lead in bullets and shot some time ago.
If they were to do that again?

None of us could afford to shoot any longer.

Then again, they just did a study 10 years ago with astounding results.
I guess the gun-ban polititions didn't listen to them the first time.

That one could go either way.

Many have wanted a central database of the most effective handgun and rifle calibers for some time for HD- that would be about as good as we are likely to get if it included real stats.

Maybe I'm naive, and I certainly hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see this happening. Handloaders are such a very, very small minority. It'd be one thing if handloads themselves were being used in shootings, but it only takes a short trip to a public range to see the mountains of steel casings laying about to remind one that most shooters grab whatever is cheap and readily available.

Maybe not in todays fiasco but its coming soon unless we stop this crap cold. Get rid of all the grabbers in 14.
Interesting link RC copied it to fb. Guess he wants a more left leaning study.

You bet your azz he, and his cronies do.

And he will get it this time around!

The President of the United States appoints the director of the CDC and the appointment does not require Senate confirmation. The director serves at the pleasure of the President and may be fired at any time.

Mr. Obama appointed the current director, Dr. Thomas R. Frieden.

Dr. Frieden served as health advisor to New York City Mayor Bloomberg before being appoint CDC director by Obama in 2009.

Where do you suppose he stands on gun control?

I believe that any studies conducted by federal agencies will be preceded by instructions from the White House to the effect that, "When I want your opinion, I'll give it to you."

I won't be surprised if they try to make all reloaders aquire an FFL.

They just can't stand the thought of free people making what they need and not regulating it.

"What is the possibility... "?

High. What we call 'armor piercing' and what our lords in DC call armor piercing will be different things. What THEY will call AP will be anything that punches holes in cheap body armor and that's virtually anything jacketed from a .222 to .30-30 to .270 to .35 Remington, etc. In fact, I could easily pierce most cop jackets with my .30-06 target loaded 200 gr. hard cast bullet loads. And our bureaucratic masters will react accordingly.

Most of them never heard of reloading, and don't care, if we don't tell them we can do it!!

Reloading has never been on the anti-gun radar screen much, as far back at I can remember.

So don't start writing letters to your gun-control congress critters about reloading.

What they don't know won't jump up and bite us on the azz.

Funny how gun related crime always happens in gun controlled areas. I guess if no one else has a gun that makes them a easy target.

Since there is already a law against killing people how is making the gun illegal going to help? Actually the gun is illegal in the school already so seems like that should tell them something.

There were actually some proposals before Sandy Hook that would have shut us down. Remember serial numbered bullets?

Anything is possible and only time will tell us all the facts.

Exactly, but as rcmodel posted, reloading isn't on their radar right now. They have bigger fish to fry.

Call, write, donate. Make them know you will vote against any politicians who support gun restrictions, and basically (no offense intended) put your money where your mouth is.
