The prop sale was overwhelming. Pallets upon pallets of trapdoors, leather goods, bayonets, lever rifles and crates of parts. I found two TDs with prop tags. A real SRC with the list of assignments on it and another dating back red badge of courage, Also bought a lot of TDs converted to Faux flinters, . One was a faux blunderbuss. Nabbed some rare boer sawbacks, a TD pistol and ammo crates full of TD and other period parts and movie leather. Think some had Bannermans and W stokes Kirk stenciled on crates, I only had $400 on me at the time and took a chance bidding on many lots. Only got lucky when some went for bathroom breaks or food. The big guys beat me out on all but the few things i got. All the handguns where long gone even before the auction, We heard it was the singer Mel Torme who got them all. Another California buyer got all the levers mostly shot out 92s and most of the faux flinters. I had to sell all but the 2 TDs, the td pistol and some of the leather and parts over the years, I only had $400 on me at the time and took a chance bidding on many lots. I still have a td from "1915?" birth of nation with a note from guy who was an extra. Still have bad dreams about only having $400!!!
