I am as fickle as a school boy when it comes to calibers. I love the Swede and the 260 for whitetails. For pronghorn I like the 270 Win and the 257 Weatherby. Elk would get a 300WSM or a 338, but if I could have only one, it would be a 30-06. You can buy ammo in a mom and pop store in Podunk USA. It can be had in just about any configuration from bolt to pump to semi-auto to lever to singleshot. Bullet selection is diverse in both loaded ammo and components, and with the proper bullet it will handle anything on the North American Continent. In fact, I may have to go get one tomorrow.
