Another way of looking at these kinds of numbers is that they only represent a tiny fraction of what’s actually “on the street” at any given moment... Illegal weapons are also a form of currency on the street with dopers and other bad actors trading guns for drugs and other needs (and vice versa). As a result one gun in the street can pass through other hands (and possibly get used by more than one BG before finally getting picked up by police).
