I've got a Ruger Security Six with a 3" barrel and rubber grips (OK, it's my wive's gun :D , but we have it for home defense). We (She)want to put a laser on it. I haven't found one that is made for grips for this model.
What are my options?

Rick

With the Six series being so long out of production I doubt anyone would make the laser grips for it. You may have to settle on having one mounted under the barrel so kind of way. Options are really slim to none.

Don't buy one is an option.

I really don't like lasers.

They wash out in any bright light.

Its nothing like the movies where a bunch of dots appear on someone's chest and you can see them real well and they do not move. If you are aiming a pistol, you will see why it is very hard to hit bullseyes. The dot looks like it is hooked to a low velocity vibrator.

Many people like them. That motion you see is actually from your hand that you can't detect with iron sights. With practice you will find you can hold a steady spot.

Crimson Trace is about the only laser grip manufacturer that I know of. This wish list is pretty well backed up and I doubt they'll make grips for a long out of production gun, no matter how popular it was. Look around for a S&W K or L frame.

What better excuse to buy another gun. She wants it, she's even asked for it.

You'd have to check to see if grips available or not - I suspect not. Check tho at http://www.crimsontrace.com/ . I have purchased at quite good prices from Impactguns.com/

Sure they wash out in bright light and so - just forget they are there!! There adjuncts and NOT primary sighting systems. And of course - when you can see a dot it does shake - like crazy but - that is manageable - it is only showing what will happen with a normal iron sight picture.

I impress on folks - use irons all time and be proficient - make them habit. if however light level is depressed or even near dark - you will see the spot without trying as you go for irons picture - that is when they come into their own - even more so if you need to shoot from cover and not expose self much - single hand shooting round a corner becomes possible.

But - there will always be fans and detractors - I am the former but again - caution folks to never treat them as a primary sighting method.

I checked before I wrote my reply. Nope. Not a hope. They do make it for the SP101, though.

I have them on my 642, the hard plastic type (I forget the stock number). I wanted max concealibility due to the fact that the 642 is nearly 100% pocket carry. These things actually seem to accentuate the recoil. Don't mind it too much b/c I bought the gun to carry, not to shoot (I shoot it occasionally, but have a steel framed 640 that's the exact same size for range work).
