What new gun for me?

I just got my dream job. I get to work with guns all day and the pay is great.
I've decided to reward myself by emptying the gun fund on a new firearm.

I own AR-15s in 5.56 and will soon own one in 458 SOCOM, Glocks in 9mm, 40 S&W, and 45 ACP, hunting rifles in 308 Winchester, multiple 22LR rifles and pistols, and enough shotguns to suit all my needs. Basically this new gun will not have a role to fill other than being a reward for myself.

I have $600.00 - $750.00 in the gun fund, so that's the budget for now.

I have several guns on my wish list, but with my new job I can work some Saturdays for store credit, so I should in theory be able to get most of the guns on my wish list over the next couple of years. Yeah, life is good.

I'm thinking really hard about a Glock 31, Glock 20 and Saiga in 223 right now. What say ye?

It sounds like we have a lot of the same tastes in firearms. That being said, I might invest in reloading equipment. Do you have any revolvers? I too love automatics, but have fallen in love with my Ruger Blackhawk in .357. Have you considered a 1911? I don't know if you have one or not but they too are loads of fun to shoot.

Go get a good compound and you will fall in love with archery.

You need some variety... a non-military design with a rimmed cartridge.

Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt.

You can load it light for plinking or heavy enough for big game, and fondle it while watching John Wayne movies.

I second the revolver. Get a solid .357 magnum, preferably mid60's to mid '80's with an original grip. Colt or Smith

I would think about getting something obscure, but fun. Automag .44 maybe I'd get.

Good suggestions, guys. I am not a revolver fan at all. I've owned a few, but always got rid of them. They just aren't my thing.

I've owned 1911s inthe past and they just don't feel right in my hands after shooting Glocks for so long.

I do own a compound bow and very much enjoy bow hunting. That's actually why I was looking at a Glock 20. I'd like to own a pistol for deer hunting, but with this new job and living away from my old hunting grounds I just don't know if I'll get to hunt enough this year to justify it.

You might think about a Dan Wesson 357 supper Mag or the S&W 460 all very good hand guns. GOOD LUCK

There's little love for G20's from what I've seen. Lots of them get sold on the secondary markets around here after folks find them too punishing.

And forgive me, but a Glock just doesn't seem like a reward gun. It's a working firearm for practical purposes.

You should forget about high caps and such and go with something off beat but incredibly fun to shoot and shoot frequently. A French made Walther PP in .32 ACP was about the funnest semi I ever had. Real nice in the hand and dead accurate. Also the Sig P225 was a constant pleasure to shoot and you can spell your name on a 15 yard target with it. A Thompson Contender handgun can also be a hoot.

You should take the opportunity to break your mold a bit, and don't get what you'd usually get.

Cosmoline, the guns I buy that are out of my mold usually get sold within a couple of months. If they aren't what I like I just don't shoot them and end up getting rid of them for guns I will actually shoot.

How about a G32 or G33 in .357SIG? Something different caliber wise yet familiar because it's a Glock.

I agree with a quality revolver, there is nothing like them and lots of fun at the range. If your looking for a semi find a German Sig 220, one of the best non-1911 45's on the market.....

Bannockburn, I am thinking about a G31. The grip in the mid sized Glocks is awkward for me. I would consider a G33 if I hadn't just bought a G27.

I know what you mean, but just in the opposite way. For me the G19 is the best fit for my hand while the G17 and G26 both feel a little bit awkward to me. Instead of a another Glock how about a SIG P250 or SIG P239 in .357SIG?

The evolving muzzle loader rifles have really come a long way. Very accurate and they give you a huge advantage on regular rifle hunters with early, special seasons in many places.
