The Colt 1911 and Beretta 92 from what I've read are pretty hard to wear out. Are there any out there that equal these two? I've lookeed at the CZ-75 It seems to be in the same league. Any opinions out there?

Springs (and locking blocks, when it comes to the Beretta 92) are items that usually need to be changed at regular intervals. If you do this, it will likely make the gun last much longer.

While I am not a big fan of Glocks... The Glock will probably outlast most other guns in the sheer # of rounds that can go thru it in the gun's lifetime. I've seen many magazine articles of Glocks in excess of 100K thru the original barrel. After a while, you should apparently replace the barrel, as a barrel can get shot out. But then, the Glock can go another 100K.

I don't think you'll get 200K thru the metal frame of a 1911 or Beretta 92FS.

That being said - the 92FS and 1911 are my 2 fav guns. I own no Glocks anymore. But, I will never shoot that many rounds thru a single gun in my lifetime anyway.

Most good quality revolvers will outlast (in terms of rounds fired) an autoloader simply because there is less wear and stress on critical parts.

Even "quality" is not always a good determinant of longevity. When tests were conducted to provide information to Congress prior to passage of the GCA '68, a number of "good quality" pistols and revolvers failed to complete the (I think 5000 round) test, while two RG-10 "Saturday Night Special" revolvers came through with flying colors.

I usually take the term "pistols" as meaning autos.

I was going to say the same thing though.

CZ, Sig and Browning Hi-power. All have been around for years and all can go the distance.

I personally like the Hi-Power :D
