I just received a Savage 10FP in .308 from my wife for Christmas and I already have some Weaver 46 bases, but I'm not sure about what height ring would work best with my Sightron 4-16 42MM scope. I would like to go with the Burriz Zee rings, but I'm not sure about height. I tried out a set of B-Square High rings, but they just seem to position the scope too high off the bore axis. Do you think I would need the medium or low height?

corruptone .... I think you will want the mediums. Lows will probably not give clearance with that size optic.

However ... may I suggest some quick measurements .....

Lay scope on its side on paper ........ and mark center of object lens (not vital), periphery of same - and lower side of body tube. Use the bottom of objective lens to draw a reference base-line.

Next .. lay rifle on side and project a line with straight edge from top of receiver ...... and measure what clearance there is between that and barrel area where front optic might be.

In essence .. just relate all your measurements ..... such that the ''lift'' needed is worked out. IIRC if less than 0.68 needed then I think those will be mediums....... can't find a source to check. But I think ''lows'' are maybe only a quarter inch or so.

Might be worth after measuring up - checking out Brownells web site, re dimensional data..

I know if you go to Sightron's site they have detailed dimensions of all their scopes. I'll bet Burris has dim's on their rings on their site also.

Just my $.02 based on my personal experience, YMMV...

I tried to mount a Tasco SS 10x42 using Burris dual dovetail mounts and Medium Leupold rings. The bell cleared the rifle just fine, but the bolt handle contacted the eye piece bell. I started to go with High rings, but opted for extra high just to make sure.

Again, YMMV...

I use Burris Signature Zee medium rings + Ken Farrell base on my Savage 10FP with a Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 mildot.
