I still think a pump action shotgun is a better “do everything” long gun than any rifle. If I had to go with a rifle, I’d give some ground on the defense side to better optimize for hunting. So mine would be my Model Seven in 7mm-08.

Springfield Armory SAR-48 (FAL) in 7.62x51 with a Williams tuned trigger, Kydex sling and Vortex 1x8 StrikeEagle on a DSA scope mount. This is my go-to boom stick for going to the range, deer season, two or four legged vermin or SHTF.

An AR is lighter and a little quicker to handle but the capability of the 7.62x51 seals the deal for me.

I typed it as I rolled my eyes at all the blued steel fudd specials used as "defensive go-to rifles".

And it's almost 70 years old...

And every time I see a photo of a gimmick-laden AR-15 intended to be used as a "defensive go-to rifle", I am reminded of this wise little quip-

"People tend to have a proclivity towards an object rather than their own skill."

When you consider how much thought the anti crowd go after AR’s and the like, making a traditional lever look like a hated AR will only get them attacking a traditional lever.
I don’t like bastardizing a lever.

The AR’s are what they are, and fine weapons as well, so I’m not opposed to an AR or any “Scary” attachments.

Well, wouldn't be bad if they do in my opinion. Maybe it would get gun owners off the sideline and realize that the AR15 needs to be defended, else all other firearms will follow suit in being restricted or banned.

It would not bother me in the least that the anti-2a crowd would turn their attention towards levers, magazine fed bolt actions, semi-auto pistols, etc. like they do the AR15. Maybe, only then would we have TRUE 2A support in this country and galvanize gun owners as under one common defense, no infringement of the 2nd Amendment.

Too many gun owners in this nation, clean their blued and walnut under the shade of protection of the AR15 that takes the arrows of the statist tyranny imposed by those who would disregard our founding documents.

I would have to disagree. I don’t hangout with the AR crowd because they like to do their own thing and I fully support that, but I don’t like hot brass in my left ear. Mostly that’s because I have my own private range.
Your points are well taken though, more people should be involved. But up here all gun owners are pretty vocal as we understand that it’s a cancer and the “don’t give an inch” attitude prevails.
I just don’t want their target enlarge. I own traditional blue steel and wood rifles and I object to the bastardizing of the traditional firearms. Your mileage may vary.
I do support all firearms groups as equals and need support as one and the same.

But these are what lever guns should look like
No offense is intended here BreachFace, you have made good valid points. I mostly agree, but from a different point of view.
