There are no holders of advanced degrees in gunfighting, just people who are very, very good at the basics

Thank You!

One has to learn the correct basic fundamentals, all anything is - is learning the correct basic fundamentals, and through dedication, discipline, repeating these correct basic fundamentals , over and over and over again...

Shooting comes from within. All we are doing are instilling correct basic fundamentals, so we can we do these basics faster and better ...

This is a great thread. The value of practise can't be overstated. Who said, "in a crisis, you will revert to training - if you haven't been trained, you will panic..."

For some reason, I keep imagining a couple (or four) stoned gang-bangers pulling guns on Rob Leatham...

Also realize that though he trained...he mostly just "practiced" the moves he was going to do over and over. A lot harder to have to choose your move in a split second and execute it. This requires real training and proven techniques.

One shot to the back of each guy's head, take your briefcase back and walk away.

In some jurisdictions, this might be considered murder or at least manslaughter. If someone has stolen something from you and they are walking/running away from you, they don't pose a threat of death or great bodily harm. Just a topic for discussion...

this video still pisses the @#% out of me....this scumbag shoots two armed cops and the worst thing is i don't know if they got him or not or if the Cops made it, even though it appears he shot them in the head at the end.

warning: this is graphic and will tug at your most human instincts of rage and sorrow at the same time.......

Sorry folks, just wanted to show you the topic of the thread in real life and asking everyone out there, LEO's and CCW's to be careful and don't let your guard down.

How many trained killers do you know? Who trained them?

Jeff I did say I was ASSUMING that a trained killer would take a head shot. It just makes the most sense. That is what is kind of silly about the movie. Tom Cruise's character is supposed to be some ex-special forces guy that is a hired hitman for some Organized crime figure:rolleyes: they are two different animals. Mob hits are usually done one of two ways, riddling the victim with bullets usually to spread fear and terror, or with a simple single bullet to the head. Israeli assassins do the same thing, close range, shoot the guy in the head and walk away. You are less likely to get caught, and to be a so called” Good professional hitman" I'm guessing the old "bullet to the head" shot would become your bread and butter. Mozambique Drills are great for the lone BG , but I don't care how fast you are the Mozambique Drill is impractible against multiple armed BG. If you are trained to shoot very well, your got to go for two quick headshots.:banghead:

I'm sorry, I know a lot of guys love this movie and especially this scene, but think about it, Tom Cruise is trying to be discreet. He has not finished his job yet, and he needs that briefcase, he is in downtown LA. Would you confront the 2 armed BGs and shoot 6 rounds, drawing attention to your area, and even with movie magic, almost losing the draw on BG #2. As a professional killer, Tom would be better off walking up behind the two guys and shooting them in the back of their heads to get his briefcase. It make for a boring movie I guess, but it would be more plausible.

More plausible certainly, but this incident takes place fairly early on in the movie. I think one of the more important reasons that the directors did it like that was because not only does it look cool, but also they are trying to impress upon the viewers just how skilled, how calm, and how much of a bad*ss Cruise's character is.

Yeah its crap. Still fun to watch.
