What's a good M4 soft case that will allow a 30 round mag to be inserted?

This doesn't really fall into accessories or any other category so I put it here.

I'm looking for a quality and durable case that has outer magazine pouches and will allow the rifle to have a 30 round mag inserted in the $50 range. I also want it to be a shaped case, not a square one.

I bought this one from Cabelas and it's perfect except that it is just not tall enough by an inch, it won't zip shut with 30 round magazine.

Part of the problem is if the measurements of the soft case aren't online I can't know if it is high enough or not. I need it to be just over 12" inches high, which appears to be what everyone makes them at.

What state are you in...?

I normally don't leave any rifle I own in a case unless I'm traveling.. in which case, if I recall in NY, I can't have a magazine inserted into the mag well, loaded nor unloaded, let alone would I travel with a mag or ammo in the same case as the rifle.. but that might just be NY.

Best case I have ever bought! midwayusa large range bag is great too I would have paid twice as much for both. Rifle case is on sale right now too only $42 I like this one better than the shaped ones. I can carry my rifle with a 30 round mag inserted, there are heavy duty straps inside to keep your rifle in place if you want. and two very large outer pockets for what ever and 6 pouches for 30rnd mags

Here is the shaped one not as nice as the square on but more of what your looking for. I liked the shaped ones too, until I got my squared case

If you have to have the action loaded and ready for use immediately upon presentation of the weapon from the case, use a 20 round mag. Many do, especially in transport on duty.

Most initial gunfire encounters are a matter of just a few discharges, if ten extra rounds would make a difference, it would be difficult to statiscally and tactically justify. Cover and concealment would likely be a high priority, and a reload to a 30 round mag achieved then. Where is that magazine, cause if the ten extra are necessary, 30 more would still be justifiable.

Not questioning the requirement, just asking how it fits in the overall big picture.

I prefer 20rd mags for most use anyway...and a guitar gig bag makes a great rifle case.
Mags in pouches on the case seem like a waste of time. Fire and movement is how to survive and dominate...pretty tough to shoot and drag a bulky case with you.

I have a couple of the Galatis mentioned above (in black).
On the off chance you have a scope mounted on a carrying handle, don't know that you'll get an AR in it with a 30-rd magazine-no scope on handle, I think you'll be OK.

The Galati is one of the more heavily padded cases I have (also have a couple of Midway rectangular)-only complaint I have about the Galati is I wish it unzipped 180 degrees in order to allow it to lay flat when opened. If you look at the picture of the Galati, you'll notice the rear zipper doesn't wrap around the top of the case, and as such, will not allow you to 'butterfly' the case when opened.

'Course, Galati also sells lower priced cases which may be more closely padded like the Midways?

You're in luck if you're thinking Midway as they have a good sale on a number of their cases at this time-#1 of the 4 rolling ads on the front page.

EDIT: Just another 'heads up' on the cases-even though the Galati has only 4 external pockets, I have 2 30-rd PMAGs with Ranger Plates stuck in each pocket-give you a total of 8 magazines.
The Midway rectangular has 6 external magazine pouches, but you can only get 1 30-rd PMAG in each one for a total of 6.
You can carry 2 more spare mags in the Galati external pockets than you can in the Midway rectangular.
Iff'n that makes a difference...

That makes sense then.. I saw someone suggest it earlier.. if you're willing to sacrifice it, loading a 20-rd mag while it's in the case and having the 30-rd mags easily accessible is a decent alternative.

Bass Pro used to have some nice Redhead soft cases. I've had one for a coule of years with probably 100 trips to the range with almost no wear.
