What's the difference between a Taurus Mod 65 and 66?

Looks like the Mod 66 has adjustable sights, but are there any other differences? Are they the same physical size? Love my 65!

They should be of the same general size. There might be subtle differences in the frame topstraps due to the cutouts required to accommodate the adjustable sights, or in barrel contours, depending on whether or not the ejector rod is shrouded.

The 65 is a 6-shot, the 66 is a 7-shot. I have the 66 and love it. Smoothest .357 I have shot.

Koos Custodiet,
I don't know how old your M66 is but the "CURRENT" line of M66's Taurus is offering are all 7 round revolvers with adjustable sights. The "CURRENT" M65's are 6 round revolvers with fixed sights. They are currently offering 2X M65's and 4X M66's. Look for yourself Here.

Older 66s have the six shot cylinder and the newer ones do have 7 charge holes. HKS makes speedloaders for either that fit. Just have to be careful to order the right loader. Their website has the differences on their chart.

Model 65 is just the fixed sight version. Have two older models. One is a blued 4 incher and a 66. The other is a stainless model 65 with the 2.5 inch barrel. These are over 20 years old. Timing is good. Cylinder lock is good. No endplay. And everything is tight.

I have two of the older 6 shot 66s and they are FANTASTIC revolvers compared to anything out there. I absolutely LOVE the 4" nickel, unreal accuracy for a medium frame 4" gun and a good weight for carry in the field. The 3" totes IWB very comfortably and is, itself, an accurate gun. These revolvers are simply under-appreciated in the gun world what with all the Taurus bashing that goes on. I owned a Ruger Security Six and a M19 Smith and traded both off, but my 4" 66 is definitely a keeper and I'll probably hang on to the 3", too, though I kinda prefer my SP101 for carry, a little easier to tote if I'm not quite as accurate with it due to a shorter sight radius. But, the little SP101 is plenty accurate enough!

I have simply never fired a 4" medium frame DA .357 revolver that can match that 4" 66 for accuracy, though. Accuracy counts in my collection. It's also a very tight, rugged, revolver for carry. I'd kinda prefer stainless, but nickel is pretty corrosion resistant, you just have to carry it in a good, padded holster to keep the wear down. I carry it in a flap style padded cordura holster in the field.

HKS makes speedloaders for either that fit.

I have 2 HKS speedloaders for my 66 (7-shot) and they work like a charm. Perfect fit.

On the older guns the only difference I can see is the 66 has adjustable sights. not sure about barrel lengths etc.
