primers

my buddy sells reloading supplies at a local gun show twice a year he sold 660,000 primers and not quite 600 pounds of powder primers 35.00 1k powder 20 to 25 dollars a pound to he could have sold 3 times that much. those prices have been at that price for about 3 years his supplyers whom hes been buying from for 28 years said on his latest order 8 weeks to 8 mounths. part of the problem they say is the fact that goverment agencies other than the miltary ha ordered just under 3 billion rounds of ammo that 3 billion rounds. maybe we should start asking are congressmen and senators what they are doing with it

Nothing really.

Well, the last primers I paid $31 for 1000, sounds a little high for a guy who has been used to primers $10/1000 most of my reloading career.

I did not buy anything but i sold a Hornady lock and load press and 3 shell plates for over 1100.00

I paid $37 per 1000 for a couple boxes of LPP and $20 per lb for a couple cans of 2400. Their pre panic prices were more like $32 and $18.

My plan is to ride it out. I have enough to keep shooting the same amount for about 8 months. Somewhere in there I have to restock, plus I watch the local shops and buy what I can when the prices are appropriate.

they are doing exactly what everyone else is, only on large scale. Buying now for fear that they will be without if they don't.

Wr400 does your source ship? I know hazmat would be involved but I think it would still be cheaper! I recently paid $54 / 1000 for CCI SPP because it was the only store in the area that could get them and I had just started reloading.

Powder valley ships. they had almost all primers in all brands yesterday.

Havent overpaid for anything yet. Have been making a few trades for primers and powder where the other person was asking a fairly high sale price but all came out at lower cost as the stuff I was trading was bought at pre panic prices .

Constrictor: must have been a lucky day. I just looked and they're out of stock of almost all primers right now. I will keep an eye on them though. Thank.

I just walked out of the Scarborough Cabelas with 1K of CCI 200 primers for 37.99...not like buying 100 for a BUCK anymore, but I smiled all the way home!

Powder valley usually lets customers know what just came in on Facebook. I watched the Winchester, Remington, federal and cci primers all sell out in less than 2 hours. I just received 10k Winchester small pistol primers and an 8 pound jug each of unique and 2400. They are getting stuff you just have to keep watching. They were limiting primers to 10k per type.

I have been patient and so far haven't paid more than what I would expect during a scare like this. Yesterday I picked up 1,000 CCI small pistol primers and 1,000 CCI large rifle primers at Cabela's in Charleston for $37.99 per brick (they still had about 4,000 SPP, 5,000 LR and 5,000 SR when I checked out). I also picked up 1 lb of H4831SC for $27.99 and 2 lbs of H4350 for $25.99. I think they are probably priced at $2 or $3 more now per item than before this scare started. The primers had been removed from the "brick" boxes and were priced at $4.75 per pack. There was a sign indicating a limit of 2 bricks per customer. I asked one of the supervisors about this and he told me that if I took 10 of the small packs to the register it would give me the brick price when I checked out (which it did). Anyhow, these were the only primers and powders I was in short supply and now I have enough to make it through the next hunting season.

I bought 1k CCI 400 small rifle primers last weekend for $45 in a Kroger parking lot. Figured it wasnt thay bad a price since I didnt have to pay a Hazmat shipping fee.

I haven't bought anything overpriced this time nor will I. I learned my lesson in 08/09 and I've been buying extra since.

I did way overpay for .380 supplies back then.

I haven't bought anything! T don't need to prove to the world that I am a fool!!!

Well, I did just buy 2 one-pound jugs of Bullseye for $25 each. Thats a wee bit high but actually what that particular shop charged before all this nonsense so I was fine with it :).

Told myself next time I bought powder I was just going to mail order 15-20 pounds and just eat the hazmat, but all this happened before I got around to it. Oh well. With that added I should have enough powder for 6-8 months worth of shooting.

Zilch. Kings Shooter Supply hasn't been gouging and stock has been pretty good.

$119.95 + tax = $129.59 OTD for 8 Pounds of Red Dot last week. I paid $115 for 8 pounds of Unique in November when Sportsman's Warehouse had their no-tax sale. The maddening thing is that it's still listed at $115 on their website.

This price gouging is mind blowing.

I was badly in need of primers so a buddy picked my up 200srp for $20 and I still can't believe I paid that.... Everything else has been normal prices

Over the weekend, I went to Bass Pro. As I looked around for fun, I reached out and picked up a 1-pound bottle of H4831. It was the sole powder in stock. More out of curiosity than anything, I looked at the price: $30.00?! Wow, am I glad I have H4831. Anything I have bought has been either on-sale, or at worst, the regular price.

Two weeks ago, at the same Bass Pro, I happened upon a NIB Winchester Model 70, Ultimate Shadow, chambered in .243 Win. They had it on sale for $399. Yeah, it came home with me. 8^)
