1900 American Eagle Luger chambered in 7.65x22mm. One of a small batch of Lugers ordered by the US Army in 1900 for evaluation. If it had been chambered in a larger caliber, it may have become the standard US sidearm instead of the JMB 1911.

It looks alot like the one in SHADEOO's response, but its NOT a 9mm.
Is it WORTH anything?
It was in a box with a bunch of other pistols of different types, but this one seems to be the nicest. (probably newest too.)
any other info. i can get would be helpfull.
thanks.

Dan

Check to see that...

One of the other pistols in this box isn't the one missing .45cal Luger!!!!!!!!

No..there's a BRITTISH BULLDOG, 3or4 H&R BREAK TOP .32 & .38, A couple IVER JOHNSONs, a US&S 1911,
a couple COLT .38spls, S&W model 60, a S&W model #3,a COLT HUNTSMAN and a bunch I can't identify.( spur trigger rim fire .32s & such.)
this stuff was my dad's.
I've got more to go thru.
THANKS.

Dan

Is it WORTH anything?

Every gun is worth something to someone. If it is one of the original American Eagle Lugers and it's in good condition, it's probably worth a bit. They typically list on auction and collector sites at around $1500 and up depending on condition.

The front sights and the grip safetys are different on the 2 pictured. At one time either Irma or Erma made a luger type pistol that was in circulation. Other than that, beats me.....

As best I can tell, the illustrated pistol is a Luger New Model (commonly known as the 1906 by collectors) in caliber 7.65x22 or .30 Luger (not the same as 7.63x25 Mauser or Tokarev). Probably made in 1914. It is not one of the Old Model 1900 American Eagles made for US Army trials, it is a commercial import before WW I.

It is WORTH a good deal. I am not a collector to say for sure but probably in the $1500 - $3000 range. The one Shade links is more expensive because pre-war American Eagle 9mms are much less common, only 472 sold vs 1697 7.65s.

By the way, a US&S 1911 is the second least common variant, and it is likely to be valuable if original and in good shape. A Smith & Wesson No 3 New Model is desirable, too. And a S&W M60 and Colt Huntsman are good pieces, too.

My condolences for the loss of your Dad.

Jim..I'm sorry if i led you to believe my Dad is gone...he just gave the stuff to me. Thanks tho'.
There's alot more to go thru', alot I can't seem to find out about.
This one just looked "as new" and I wondered what it was...
THANKS.

Dan

If I remember right in the early 90s Mauser made a number of "American Eagle" Lugers for the U.S. market. They were patterned after the Swiss Luger. If this is one it will have Mausers name on it and be in 9mm.

tipoc,

The Mauser Parabellums were made mostly in the 1970s with some as late as 1984 listed in my book. There are visual differences and the serial number ranges were different.
Those things in the '90s were US made and were not up to a real DWM or Mauser.

socaldan,

If you would post more pictures of your Luger and give a COMPLETE listing of markings, somebody here or on Lugerforum.com will be able to tell you more. This applies to your other guns from Dad, too.
