What's your favorite hog rifle?

I have a 1895 in .405 Winchester shooting reloads topped with the 300gr Barnes X. True hog medicine!

Winchester 94XTR Big Bore in .375 Winchester. Then again, I hunt the big ol' eastern hogs here in the south, usually Florida. Close range in the brush and a little (or big) adrenaline rush if you get charged by an old yellow tusked monster. I understand that further west, it's a little different.

Great rifle, what a shame it never took off. Now ammo is expensive and getting harder to find. Makes me want to get back into reloading. However, I've never had a critter stagger away in the brush after getting smacked with it. Drops 'em flat.

This to me has always been my penultimate hog rifle. I've used it on deer, black bear, and coke cans (aim for the 'o' at 100 yards), but it feels like it was made for big ugly hawgs.

I have a couple of favorites. A custom Marlin 336SS 30-30 topped with a Zeiss Conquest 3-9 loaded with LeverEvolution ammo, and a Blaser R-93 Tracker in 308 topped with a Zeiss Conquest 2.5-8. I also have a 9.3x62 barrel for my Blaser topped with a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14, but I haven't got to try it out on pigs yet.

Which golf course you huntin'?;)

Siamese Mauser in 45/70, 400gr JSP at about 2400fps. Do NOT try this in a Marlin!!!:D Other is a 92 Win Trapper in 45Colt, 250gr JSP at 1800fps. Both drop em dead!

Gotta be a .351 Winchester. The so called gunwriter "experts" say it's marginal at best. Apparentely they have never shot anything with it. What's wrong with a .35 cal. bullet of 180 grs. moving at 1900fps? You have a short, but heavy semi auto that will empty a 10 round magazine faster than you can sneeze. And they never jam with just miminul maintaince.

I use my Romanian WASR-10 in 7.62x39. Typically a Federal 123 grain soft point, but last year I made use of some heavier Wolf hollowpoint ammo. Don't remember the number of grains, but I believe it was 140s or 150s.

My favorite is the AR-10. The little piggies don't walk away from encounters with mine.

You are missing out. Not only on alot of fun but on alot of good eating. Once you get past the filth factor, feral hog is good stuff!

My favorite hog rifle is the cheapest one with the most Cosmolene and the longest bayonet: 7.62X54R MN91/30 with heavy ball!

My first choice for a hog rifle was a Marlin Camp Carbine in .45 Auto. That rifle is too nice to drag thru the mud so I bought a Norinco SKS and camo'd it to blend into the "jungle". It does the job quite nicely.

Although there are very big hogs in the south Louisiana swamps, most are less than 200lbs, and the 7.62x39 works well for them.

I have a 30rd mag on it right now, but I use the factory 10rd for hunting purposes.

Another vote for the 6mm Remington

I have used this one the most so it will get my top vote. I use a Remington M-700 with a 2x7 scope. I can dial it down for close work or turn it up to shoot across a hay field.

Lately we have switched to catching hogs and I have taken a couple with a knife, my Ruger .45 Colt, and my Glock 20. I really like hunting them this way.
