Mine is an older 6" 27-2 with an S serial number. I do have a 6" pre-27 that is also really nice, but that particular 27-2 is one of the nicest shooting revolvers that I own. It's about on par with my pre-24 for being my favorite.
In order of preference, my dad's old M19, 4", which my wife seems to have appropriated. Got it from him shortly before he passed in '79 and it is butter smooth. Next, my 686+, quite accurate and smooth. Third, and last as a .357, my 60-15. No way I'm gonna shoot full house .357s in that one. +P 38s is tops.
Wish I'd kept my 27 and 28.

Back then, concealed carry was unheard of in most states. There was no advantage that I could see to having a shorter barrel on a revolver.
Times change, of course. So I picked up a 66-3:
The price was attractive, because some Cletus had tried to polish it. But the timing was of a nearly new quality, no split in the forcing cone. The LGS had three 4" 19s that were priced higher and weren't as mechanically nice as the 66.
