Where can I get a bunch of .223 ammo?

Depends on what kind you want.

Ammoman has SS109 in stock by the case (5.56)
M855 by the case.
In .223 he shows Federal American Eagle 55gr and 62gr in stock by the case.

That's pretty much everything except the 55gr XM193 and Wolf, which of course is what everyone wants.

I've had to change to messing around with the SS109 because I don't want to use up what XM193 I have.

The prices are going up everywhere, but there is some to be had.

http://www.thehuntingshack.com/

This place is "Sammi" certified and loads ammo for State and Federal Law Enforcement. They also load bulk ammo for places like Cabelas, and Sportsmans Warehouse.

Make sure you look at their specials and if you order from them ask for specials over the phone.

I have never placed an order to ship so I dont know how much that would cost I buy from them at the Gun Shows.

Ive shot 1000's of rounds from these guys and have not had a problem

i have a little blue elf that makes all the ammo i want for me. all i have to do is give him powders, bullets and primers and the next morning, all my ammo cans are magically filled again

I must be missing something with these websites that offer ammo. Cheaperthandirt, ammoman, and the rest. Everytime I go there, they are more expensive than Academy Sports or Walmart. I can buy WWB 9mm, FMJ for under $5.00 a box. So 500 rounds would be $50, but for 500 rounds of American Eagle on ammoman, its $85. WHat am I missing here? Why would I order it online when its cheaper to get it at the store? Is this because I am in Texas?

I like to limit my Bushmaster ammo to Q3131, the Israeli made product. So I shop the web for quantity discouts on lots of 1K or more. Midway, Ammoman, etcetera. Just shop it around.

They are not always cheaper, but with 5.56 in particular they seem to be in most cases.
Lots of the retailers carry .223 and not 5.56 as well.

They also cater to people that want large quantities.
If you need 2 boxes of something online isn't really the way to go.

Are you including sales tax in your $5.00 a box calculations?

As usual it pays to shop around.

Hey what is the midway website.

Yeah I'm looking for 1000 rounds.

Webster I burn through so much pistol ammo I have to buy it from 3 - 4 different Walmarts because I clean them out

For XM193 I've had good luck using the "email me" feature at Natchezss . . you have to place your ordering within 7-8 hours of receiving the email or they're sold out again. I tend to just automatically order 1k when they send me the email. :)

Have a good one,
Dave

That WalMart .223 is the best deal going for shooting ammo.

If you get there before I do...

They let you order by the case, if you give them a weeks notice.

For blasting ammo I like Wolf. I can usually find it for $120 a case with shipping. No problems in the 6000 rounds. Definitely not as accurate as Federal or Winchester. And the ammo is fairly heat sensitive.

My favorite ammo is Federal American Eagle, very accurate, very clean.
Second is Georgia Arms, Winchester White box, XM193, M855, and then UMC

Attached are two groups I shot earlier today, the first is 55gr FMJ Federal American and the second 62gr FMJ Wolf, both at 50 yards, 100rds, and shot in about 5 minutes each from a 14.5" Bushmaster. For blasting ammo it's hard to beat Wolf.

Wolf .223 from Cabelas.

They ship it in 2 very nice lockable storage cans, and their shipping is cheap.

Walmart Winchester White box can't be beat for price or reliability. i don't know if prices vary, but in WI I pay $7.88 for a 40 round box. SS109 can be bought pretty cheaply, but further away than 50yds you arent going to group very tight

Might want to double check your math on that calculation.
