Whats the deal with 7.62x39mm ammo being out of stock and on back order everywhere? Especially wolf Any insight?

surplus supply is drying up. That is what I'd attribute most of this to. I wanted an AK until prices started soaring.

I can buy almost as much as want around here. I can get mil surplus 5.56 and wolf .223 by the thousand rounds too. this is at actual stores and not online.

Don't know if this is true or not, but a gun shop owner told me that the import of this ammo has been stopped by the feds. That could have something to do with it, I suppose.

there seems to be plenty available online. are you referring to locally?

There is quite a lot of x39 at my local academy. That stinky lacquered Monarch stuff along with some more expensive brass.

the feds did not stop anything. Alot of it isn't surplus ammo. What happened is that Obama won, and people are still mass-panic buying everything up. Lots of online vendors are sold out because the moment they get some it goes to FFL people and those lucky enough to get leftovers.

save your 7.62 39 and 5.56 for the real deal but train with 22 lr trigger time is key.

Nothing has been stopped by the feds, unless Customs officers decided that paperwork is not done correctly for a given, single shipment.

That gun store staffer was either repeating a rumour or he is a liar. I don't know which and it makes no difference to me.
There seem to be a lot of liars in the gun and ammo business.

Most of us realized that the election was to take place in early November.
For the chumps out there, they are a gun store's dream come true.

The nice man who wanted to sell you his marked up products told you that he wouldn't be able to get any more of them? Now that's a man you can trust....

I've been reading everywhere that the ammo is drying up. And I've been reading it for YEARS. The ammo isn't going anywhere. 7.62x39 is the most mass produced round in the world. It isn't going anywhere.

I saw more than a few boxes of Remington 7.62x39 tonight in Bass Pro Shop, along with .223, .303, .308, 9mm etc.

Last September and earlier, 1,000 rounds of Wolf was sold+shipped for $200.
It's too bad that people with jobs back then seem to have made the decision not to buy this stuff, even if they had the cash months ago.
But I never dreamed that calibers for bolt-action guns might increase, or is it just with imported Russian ammo?

Wish I had foreseen the increase in .223 last spring as it went up before summer (due to the war etc). Refuse to buy at today's prices.
Right now, my .22 helps limits using too much stored ammo.
Good luck to you guys.

Anybody ever try this ammo from Ammoman ???

Another misinformed gun shop owner. I just picked up 1,000 rounds of Wolf a couple of weeks ago. My LGS got 2,000 rounds in and I took half the same day. I just think everyone is waaayyyyy behind on backorders.

but a gun shop owner told me

That statement should be followed by putting on waders as anything else that follows is gonna stink to high heaven.

throwing out some old invoices the other day and saw buying Russian(non wolf) 7.62x39 from century back in 2000 I paid 59.00 per thousand for 10k's worth.

Buy low, sell high
