I want it cheap. Cheapest i seen is 6 a box at gun show. same one this weekend. hope the 6 / box guy is there again.

go to cheaperthandirt.com

Just make sure to wear your underwear backwards and bring lube!

Do a Google on 762X39 ammo for sale, I know Ammunitiontogo.com, Natchez, Graff, J&R all got a load of it in recently, but I think it is corrosive, if that is a factor for you.

and uh....$6 a box, for good stuff, ain't all thaaaat bad!

What does shooting corrosive entail in terms of clean up? Field strip or just the barrel with my gun clean kit? I am going to clean the barrel now before every time i shoot.

Shoots innaccurate and makes me nervous when it didn't eject right once when i fired it dirty . . .

depends on where you are, and how much you want to order. Some local gun shops in AZ have military surplus rounds for pretty cheap, plus you can sometimes pay cash and get them to drop the price. (don't know where you are but that's how it is here) I have never ordered ammo online, but I believe there is a pretty hefty haz-mat shipping fee for most places, so you have to buy a LOT to make it worth it.

That being said cheaper than dirt has it for 21 cents a round right now

I clean with soapy water after shooting corrosive ammo, dry, and then oil.

You have to clean everything that comes in contact with the gas residue. On an AK that includes the gas block, gas tube, inside the rear sight block, gas piston, bolt carrier, bore, and bolt. If you live where the humidity over 30% your rifle will rust if you don't.

And, ammo is heavy, so if your getting a small amount, the shipping kills you!
The more you buy, up to a point, the better the shipping charges are dispersed.

Sometimes the cheaper ammo on line ends up costing more than what your local firearms emporium is selling it for because of the shipping charges.

You might check, but the last time I ordered from cheaper than dirt, they charged an extra fee for handling ammo.....Look in the fine print, they are real sly about it...

They may have charged some sort of fee, but it wasn't hazmat. No hazmat on loaded ammo or primed cases, only primers or powder.

Just because there is no regulation requiring hazmat duties doesn't mean that CTD won't charge you for it.

They get ya coming and going...

Keep in mind that many AK's don't seem to like hollow point ammo. I've read lots of complaints about feeding issues. Also, from what I've heard, x39 doesn't have the velocity to get the degree of expansion that you would be using a HP round for.

"Ammoman".

The prices include shipping and his x39 is very competitive.

And where else can you buy 900 rds of 8mm Mauser for $200 total?

Why do people choose to pay much more...because a gun shop has "atmosphere"?
We don't usually take female dates to gun shops.

Interesting how pistol bullets expand at such slow velocities, isn't it?

I shot a hog with some mil-surp. 762X39 hollow point, the front of the bullets jacket flattened, but that was it, no expansion...shot some Remington stuff with their soft point into a deer at 130ish yards and pretty much the same thing, the soft point lead mashed in a bit, but no real expansion...? go figure!

where are you getting mil-surplus HP's?

Yes I have heard Wolf (black box) HP's aren't very good expanders.

The Wolf MC HP's have performed fairly well for me. As do the V-Max bullets I have been loading, turns ground hogs inside out.:D

I'll second the Mil. Classic for a decent expanding x39 round. It is the only one that has expanded well for me (though I haven't tried any expensive stuff, and probably won't), and seems to have a little more oomph than standard Wolf.
