I have a Mark II that I really enjoy. Along with that I have several other .22's but none are auto loaders. I think I want a plinker either a Sig Misquito (sp?) or a Walther P22. I don't know too much about either. Anyone want to share what they think of either?

I have voiced my opinion on the relative merits of the P22 and Ruger .22 pistols many times, and this very question has been discussed in depth even more.

my vote goes P-22... it was my first handgun purchase and I have been more than satisfied since... I have several other guns in all different calibers, but this is consistently the gun that gets shot more than the rest combined... shoots accurately and dependably, and is just more fun than it should be capable of.

I recommend it to all of my friends and they, in turn, recommend it to all of their friends.

The P-22 is a great little pistol. I also have a Beretta 70S I've always loved. I had it hard chromed after I found a tiny rust spot that just would not go away. After rubbing it with a leather patch and some oil, I just decided to have it hard chromed and that was that. And if the gun fell into a raging torrent, I'd go right in after it!

I also love the Ruger Mark II/IIIs. They're the most astounding pistols on the market. To think that the Standard Auto was available in, what...1948? It's just mind boggling. That and the Single-Six are just great additions to anyone's collection.

The new P22 seems to have most issues ironed out by now, and is a lot of fun to shoot.

That being said I really enjoy my CZ Kadet, but they're more money.

Run a search. Lots of threads here, several in the past month alone, have tackled this topic; no sense reinventing the wheel.

You also should visit the RimfireCentral Forum and take a look at the numerous Sticky notices and various posts about the issues associated with both the Walther and the Sig.

That having been said, one final piece of advice: stay away from guns that are made of pot metal. You'll be far happier, in the long run and in the short.

Look at the Beretta Neos. The grip reminds me of the XDm and the option of extra long barrels are nice (I like long handguns). Also has a length rail along the top of the entire gun.

I am able to run about 750-1000 or more rounds through it before it starts to hiccup due to fouling. It eats anything except high pressure loads, so no yellow jackets. It is somewhat of a pain to disassemble, but cleans relatively easily. Anyway, I love mine! :D

I'm really enjoying my Sig P220 SAO in .22LR ... got it from Buds for $399 delivered. And you can always add a .45ACP slide to the same frame, in the box is a coupon to get one from Sig for $399.

You also didn't say what Mark II you had. If you have the target type with heavy barrel and adjustable sights, you might want to get the standard barrel. It's a great little gun and a marvelous plinker. Had one at school and shot it several times a week up in the canyons. You can keep a Coke can flipping all over the place.

Never cared much for the target models, although they're good at what they're for.

Posts: 2 Here is a little test I did on my Mosquito. The Mosquito and the Walther aren't exactly the best 22s out there IMHO but I love my Mosquito. /QUOTE]
I like the way mine feels but after all my different ammo changes and spring replacement as well as mags
my is up to par....I'm contacting sig to see what they can do for me

If you want my opinion on .22 autoloaders ... I just bought another mkIII so MrsBFD and I could stop fighting over the one we have.

Get another mkII, and you can share magazines and accessories. Get the "ultimate clip loader" [link for illustration, get it wherever you like] and enjoy plinking with a fine handgun.
