I want to get another .45 pistol that is not a 1911 ( have them ) . What would be your pick ? This would not be for carry mainly a nightstand and fun plinking gun . Budget is a $600 dollar pistol .

Am thinking PPQ , what you ?

I like CZ's and know they make good pistols , I just wish it had a higher capacity for it's size .

IMHO the Springfield Armory XD line is hard to beat. My XD-45 has 5k rounds thru her-NO malfunctions with anything not WC/SWC. Trigger and accuracy very good. Gotta love 13+1 and the grip safety.

+1 on the XD. One of the few non-1911 .45s I've shot, and I was really impressed with the shootability and accuracy.

I was at my nephews last Sat. and his neighbor brought over his FN 45 . I don't know which model it was , but it had a safety and a decocker on it , I didn't like it . I did like that it held 15 rounds though .

I am not buying Springfield for now because of the stance they took on a gun control bill in their State . I don't want this thread to go that direction , but they are out of the running and I do like them .

Didn't like the grip? Or just the gun in general?

I would have echoed the above and recommend the XD45 (since I own one) but if that's your position I am not here to try to change anyone's mind.

I didn't like the decocker and safety combination on that model FN .

PPQ is not a bad idea, although I don't have a time on the .45 version. But really, anything in the class works. P320 Full - awesome, and you can get one under $600 with night sights. XD(m) is really nice if you can deal with its grip texture. Very accurate, I got mine for $500 even. Glock 21 - but of course. Maybe a Kahr CW45 if you like (some people love its unusual trigger pull). Or how about Ruger American? Now, if you want a hammer, your choices narrow. SIG P220, CZ-97B do not make it. FNX almost makes it, but finding $600 deal is very difficult. Px4 is easier, but you still need to get a used one, most likely.

CZ 97. Can you find them used for that these days?

^ So dig it. No idea where they are on the present market. Last time I played with one was, if I recall, something 2003-ish. Damn fine, traditionally styled, 10+1 cap, .45. You could do far worse in the big bore world.

Should be able to find a used P220 in that price range. There's always the Glock 21, of course. Ruger has the American or the SR45, but it seems like .45's tend to run a bit more than your budget.

It looks like it is between PPQ and 21SF , political with the XDM and Springfield , FN controls and Sig 220 capacity and price , I like the CZ 97 but capacity is not much more than my 1911 .

I have shot the 21SF ( and it surprised me how accurate I was with it ) , I need to find a PPQ at a range and shoot it . I am going to call my LGR tomorrow .

I would buy a Sig P320 in 45 ACP in that price range.

Nothing wrong with the Walther or FN either although I just can't like the looks of the FN.

HK USP45? Should be able to find one around or under your budget range. Several on Gunbroker, last time I looked. IMHO, too big for a concealed carry gun, but fine for nightstand, plinking, etc.

so many nice 45's these days for around $600 new or used so here we go; ppq, p320, g21, fnx, px4, rap, m&p, p220, usp, xdm, 3rd gen smith's and probably a few more I can't think of at the moment. Any of the ones listed above would no doubt serve you well for a plinker or bedside gun.
