Okay, this question may have been asked plenty of times but a quick search didn't give me the answer that I wanted. I read the "CZ Club" thread and didn't get the answer either.

The question is this: Which CZ should an XD homer like me look at to purchase? I really like the way my XD9 shoots and feels but I want to keep trying new guns just for fun. I like everything I have (except for the Walther P22) and want to keep adding to my, for lack of a better word, collection. Is there a CZ that feels similar to what an XD feels like? I see there are about 13 different models of the 75 plus the 85 and others. I have to take you at your word since I have no dealers where I live that have any CZs in stock to look at. And, what should I expect to pay for the gun you suggest at a local gun shop? I know that internet pricing would be less but I like to support my LGS if it is a current model that they can order.

If this topic has been beat to death, then I do apologize. Thanks.

Since the XD basicaly copied the CZ75 grip, they are both very comfortable to hold. The CZ, in DA mode, has a very long reach, and I would try to hold one before plopping down the cash:) I love my CZ, but hardly ever fire it from DA.:D

I don't think your XD preference is going to really affect which model you go for. All of the 75s feel much the same in the hand. The 97, as mentioned, is a little thicker, and I have no experience with the 100 (a love it or hate it sort of gun, I hear). As a starting point...

The original of course, CZ 75B.

I have a CZ bolt-action .22 rifle that I am very pleased with. I don't have any of their pistols yet, but I am seriously considering a 75D-PCR. This is similar to the P-01 except for a streamlined frame with no accessory rail. I have no need of this feature, and it saves $30 to boot.

Most of the other CZ models I have handled have a DA trigger reach that is much too long for me, but they have manual safeties that allow "cocked and locked" carry. The PCR and P-01 do not have this type of safety -- instead using a very slick frame mounted decocker -- but on these the DA trigger reach is acceptable to me. The DA and SA pulls are light, and will probably smooth out with use.

They will mostly feel the same as a regular CZ-75B, but an SP-01 has a slightly different grip and the CZ-85 COMBAT has an old style trigger (less curve to it).

Since they are all so similar, let the decision be made by the features you want.

The trigger is not going to feel the same so be prepared for that. As far as the CZ feeling most comfortable to an XD owner, I would say go with the P01 for several reasons. First, the light weight aluminum frame makes the P01 the most similar to an XD (though still a little heavier) in terms of heft. Second, the decocker is a good idea for someone not used to cocked and locked. Third it is a good all around size for any use (about the size of a P229).
