For me the M&P, it fits my hand better. I have a SIG 229 with houges, it feels ok and I shoot it ok. Niether the glock or the xd feel right in my hand.

I'm biased, I own the XD and the Glock, and I do not own a Sig. I have fired Sig's, love em'. Accurate, built like a Swiss watch. But from a design standpoint, I de-cock Sigs EVERY TIME I think I am releasing the slide. Great gun, bad design for my muscle memory--It's why I have no Sig's in the stable.

Why not slingshot the slide? Then you have one less control to worry about on any gun you fire.

But to get back on topic, I chose the SIG 226. I always shot it better than the Glock I used to own, the trigger is much better than the Glock, plus take down is a lot simpler and doesn't require you to pull the trigger.

I voted SIG 226. And the reason I did so was because all the other pistols mentioned lack a manual safety. This is one more step that complicates the firing process, true, but at the same time if there were ever a case of a perp disarming you this may be a life saving quality. Then again proper tactics, right level of retention in the holster and awarness of your pistol can divert this before it ever becomes a problem. Be safe!

A de-cocker is now a manual safety? Interesting.

I voted Glock but in fairness the only other .40 chambering pistol I've owned was a S&W Sigma. Sig should loose on KISS principle for the very reason Dan voted for it.

i voted sig because of my personal experience with all of those guns. I dont like the trigger on the XDs, I dont like the alarming rate of cops shooting themselves and otherwise accidently firing glocks (dont believe me? google it) not to mention glocks are the least accurate out of those 4 guns, M&Ps have to be the overall lowest qulity of the 4 and have the worst resale value of the 4 for that reason(dont believe me? gunbroker.com it)

at the end of the day the sig is the best, I would also consider an HK USP, these 2 are the best all round pistols non-military folks can buy. they have great triggers, good safty systems, decockers, reliability, accuracy, attachment options, holster options and ergonomics. the only real difference between HKs and Sigs are the weight vs. capacity and that difference makes the Sigs slightly more accurate. IMO

Don't let numbers fool you, look around your area and I'll bet over half of the cops carry Glocks. I bet they don't account for more than an equal percentage of ND. All people are prone to accidents. All the guns listed here are fine quality firearms and will do what the OP wants equally well. His decision then comes down to features he likes best (mag capacity, sights, safeties, styling, weight, etc).

I shot a DAK recently and I really didnt like it at all, it was very heavy and not smooth. Not what I expected at all. I am thinking about the DA SA sig now. thoughts?
