Which Glock would YOU choose?

Glock 20 (10 mm auto)

It's the only Glock I've liked. The 29 is OK, too, but I'd opt for the 15+1 of 10mm.

The G17 because 9mm is a good, reliable, still some what powerful (like +P) and easy. Maybe even a G21 if I wanted the extra power

I am a .45acp kind a person so for me if I were going to go Glock it would be the Glock 21SF. I have small hands and from what I read this particular model addresses that situation somewhat. :)

I'd have to pick the Glock 21 SF .45 ACP with standard Glock rail and non-ambi mag catch. Reasons: The G21 SF fits my hand better than the standard G21. The .45 ACP is my all time favorite service pistol cartridge. I hate the looks of the picatinny(sp?) rail, and the ambi mag catch's right side digs into my middle finger while shooting, which is very annoying.

I'm a 45 ACP fan myself, but if choosing an issue Glock for duty it would be a G17. Retired from LE and have carried many different sidearms.I think the Glocks in 9mm are the best of the breed.

G21 for open carry, I have big hands and really like the way it fits. G19 for concealed, small enough to hide, big enough to be able to handle properly.

Sheesh. I have to revise my previous statement of the G17 and G19. :) I have those already, and well, I really like them.

But, today while at the gun store, Santa forced me to accept a new G21-SF. I argued and tried to say no, but Santa wasn't taking no for an answer.

I'm retired now, but my last duty pistol was a Glock 21. Could have carried a 22, but prefered the 21. I'd be ok with either one.

If LEO use I'd say a G22 (me) A G23 if it fit better (end user) Not that .40 is amazingly different than 9mm (both with the correct ammo chosen) but the 22/23 are the most common among other officers...I believe it is possible (though unlikely) that a circumstance could come when mag interchange among randomely thrown together LEO's would be a handy thing. I've ownes the 17,19,21,22,23 (2X on the 22) They all proved to be fine weapons.

On my own I really like the 17/19 a bit better or the 21. I really liked the new slimmer 21 I felt recently...much better feel than the XD45 IMHO I tend to swing either 9mm or .45 and really like the .45 round best. If commonallity was not an issue I'd probably get a 21 with the slimmer grip...even with XL hands the old version is a bit big...the new one was "just right" for me. I like the 1911 better but for the money (especially used) the 21 has to be THE MOST universally overlooked .45 out there. Accurate reliable and tough as nails for like $550-565 NIB average retail. But again for LEO use...9mm is lightest on the belt....40 is more common (Plus I really like the 135gr +P Corbon load) So after considering them all I'd probably let them buy me a G22 as the best compromise...not exciting but then that's not what a duty gun is about. It would deffinately be between a 21/22 anyway

steelyblue (and all others):

Please explain why you did NOT like the G30. That is my next purchase. I always seek the good, bad and indifferent before making final decision to buy.

Appreciated,

Glock 18! come on people... since ammo costs is not a problem AND you're an LEO so I imagine it would actually be easier to obtain.
Otherwise? Definitely the G20. The 10mm has great ballistics and having shot it I really don't see why so many people whine about the recoil of the 10mm (good ol' FBI).

Glocks...

I'm not a huge fan of the Glock line of pistols for CC or duty use but if I had to pick a Glock, I'd get either the model 32C in .357SIG, the compact 33 in .357SIG or maybe the new Glock 21SF in .45acp. I like the design of the 21SF because I'm left handed and it's a .45acp, ;). The Glock 33 is a solid choice because you can use other barrels and mags in the same pistol. LoneWolf and Jarvis sell well made after market kits. :D
Whatever model I'd pick I would also make the Glock(s) the NY-1/New York 1 trigger. Massad F Ayoob and other gun experts suggest this feature to use on carry Glock pistols.

PS- the runner up is the Glock model 20 10mm or the 20C, ;). You can get replacement barrels in .357/.40/etc for the model 20 too.

I have found the Glock knife to be pretty good for forcing entry into a suicidal woman's home, so the EMTs could start doing their job. As for Glunck pistols, I made do with the G22 for a couple of years, from the time I had to set aside the 1911 as a duty pistol, to the time I got my hands on a SIG P229R DAK, which I have found to be the best duty handgun in the world for my hands and situation. No, the Glock knife is not a good all-around cutting tool. The grind angles are not good for cutting, and make sharpening difficult. It's a pretty decent sharpened pry bar. My final answer: Glock knife.

Being realistic and considering what is and will be available here (esp the ammo), I've kind of started to like the G 21 Pro.

The more I think about it... the Glock 23 is the smartest choice in the Glock line-up for a CCW. Just the right combination of size, capacity, caliber. I believe strongly in high capacity, but I also like the more potent calibers... that's where the 23 really shines. Standard mag gives you 14-rounds on board without a reload and .40 is a reasonably effective handgun caliber.

I've got a 19, 23, 29, and 30 and if I could only have ONE Glock for all-around defense use, I would make it the G23 for sure!

When I pack my G23 it's in the 14-round capacity. When around the house, I pop a 15-round G22 mag in for capacity of 16-rounds. Such a fine, fine gun... my idea of the perfect all-around defense gun.
