I kind of through it was time to determine which one of my guns would stand up the best in a real live sitution. I set up one of thoes situtional targets, you know the one where some guy has a flight attentdant around the neck holding a knife, at about 15 yards. Knowing all along this was a controled test (ie nobody shooting back at me ....no one screaming at the top of her lungs...etc.)In addition knowing a stray shot could cause rapid decompression and all that jazz. I mean all things equal which gun was my most accurate.
The guns I uses were:
Taurus 1911 45 ACP
S & W Model 29 44 mag. (this would cause decompression no matter if you hit the dude or not)
Springfield XD 9 Sub Compact 9mm
Taurus model 85 38 special
CZ 75 n9mm
Sig 225 9mm
The results: Keep in mind I was calling each shot...ie head shot, hand with knife,crotch...ect.
The Taurus 1911 45 ACP by far out shot all the rest.
The S & W model 29 not as accurate, as a matter of fact I hit the A.L attendent in the cheek....not good with a 44 mag
springfield XD 9 came in second in accuracury
The Taurus model 85 38 special at 15 yards I was lucky to hit anything
Sig 225 and CZ 75 came in third .
With the 1911 I called every shot and hit it. Glad the 1911 is my primary carry.

Thanks,

In handguns I favor my full size rock island.

In long guns I favor my 12 gauge with 18 inch barrel

Both were bought as base models and modded as I saw fit. Neither has crazy accessories or stuff hanging off the shotgun. They both work ALL the time. I would sell my $1,000 ar long before I would part with my $150 Maverick 88. Same thing with the rock island, I would let my $800 para go before the rock island I paid less than half of that for.

I have alot, so its hard to decide. I shoot my P89 the most. I know, but the thing just keeps going. Thousands of rounds thru it without a hiccup. But my baby is my M1a.

between handguns, rifles, and shotguns there is no gun i like better or shoot better with than my tried and true xd service model 40. i love it, so much in fact i think i wil get another.

I have found that the things I use most often are the things that I am most comfortable and accurate with. If you are disappointed with your performance with a particular gun then practice with it a little more and see how you do! Looks don't build muscle memory, neither does a price tag, or a good review from a gun rag, practice does. That said my ole Taurus 92 is my best friend as far as that goes. I am both more comfortable and more accurate with it than I am anything else!

most guns will do their part...

....if you will do your part. My XD, in .45 ACP, will put it in the 10 ring consistently at 25 feet or so.

........but If I had my choice, all "what if's" aside, best gun of mine in that situation... Colt .556 1/7, 16.5. At 50 yrds, the hole I could cover with my thumb.

I practice with my carry guns regularly. If I cannot hit what I am aiming at, it's because I don't shoot it regularly. I either shoot it more often or sell it. :)

That said, I do shoot 1911s better than anything else...followed by older S&W revolvers.

As I grow older, I find that I really don't need much more than those two.

Can't live without? That would be the 92 Winchester in 32-20 my grandfather gave me. It's old and underpowered but the range officer smiles when he sees I have brought it.

My favorite is a slightly younger Mark IV Lee Enfield that my Uncle 'worked on' and gave me about three months before he died. It's old and it's ugly but it is far more accurate than my skill level.

hard to decide depends on what kind of mood i am in. i have too many of them to favor just one
heck just last week i went to the range and took 8 guns with me

I have a bunch of "favorites", but my Glock 17's get shot the most (2- one 1st gen, one 3rd gen). USPSA Production, IDPA SSP, Steel matches, training, practice and boonie carry. They aren't the prettiest, but obviously there is something about them that I like. The first gen has over 100,000 rounds that I have put through it (I bought it used from another competition guy).

i guess i'd have to say the USP-C. i carry it every day. for rifles, even though i bought and tacti-cooled an AR15, i still just can't bring myself to like it as much as the good ol' Winchester '94 in .30-30.

I have many guns of all types to choose from Colts to S&W's from Remingtons to Winchesters.

For a pistol my choice would be my Ruger P97DC .45 ACP

For a long gun my choice would be my 12 ga. Remington 870 HD w/18" barrel and magazine extension.

They have been perfect through the years without any issues ever. In short, I trust them.

This is like asking which child is your favorite.

I like carbine length rifles. I have them in .22, .38/.357M, 9mm, .223, 7.62x39.

But I also like my Garand.

I like my Springfield Mil Spec Stainless in .45.

I also like my 870HD.

Don't make me choose between them! :p
