I'm looking to get a new rifle here soon and I've narrowed it down to three possibilities: Sig 556 patrol rifle with rail, m1a loaded, or krebs custom ktr-08 (ak47). I've owned an ar15 and hated it. Ammo price is a considering factor, but so is accuracy and accessory options for later.

Options wise, the Krebs would be the best. Accuracy it'd probably be the M1A. If you still have your AR mags left over, the Sig is nice too.

Sorry, doesn't look like I've helped at all. Go with the Krebs. You'll never know quality in an AK until you get a Krebs.

I hated the reliability issues. Accuracy, the round, and modularity were outstanding though. Plus I don't want an aluminum reciever so I can run wolf or brown bear without any harm done to the rifle.

if ammo price is a big factor (like it usually is) i woud rule out the M1A as cool as it is. I have been looking at AK-74's as of late, and the biggest pluses are that it is a AK (i love my AR too) and the ammo is really cheap. Krebs makes one, as does Lancaster, and they are at least worth a look.

I gotta go with the M1A; I am a huge .308 fan & not much of a .223 or mini russian fan. I love the look & feel of the Springer. If you can swing the much higher cost compared with your other options, I would go for it.

As for ammo, I am seeing midway & other onliners offering decent enough deals on Wolf & other surplus, and you have far more factory tac-driving loads available for precision work with the .308.
