Which semi-auto do you trust w/your life?

Last, if for some reason you have to pull your gun, Heaven forbid, the cops are probably gonna take it, the Glock is less expensive and easy to replace.

All of mine are easy to replace. If it saves my life, it saves my life. I have others at home...so I don't care if the cops confiscate a $3000 1911 or a $400 glock. I carry whatever I shoot the best or whatever best suits my needs.

My carry and 100% sure fire pistol is a 2nd Gen S&W Model 669.
9mm, 12+1 capacity, never a failure out of more than 2,000 rounds so far.
I have an XD-45, a Walther PPS and a Sig P6, but my goto gun is the 669 every time.

+1.

^^Yep. My grandfather's Inland carbine is in my closet at home right now. It is an heirloom and I want to keep it that way. BUT, if it came down to saving a life or hesitating to make sure it doesn't get confiscated, well, if my grandfather were around, he would smack me for hesitating.

When I was about five, he let me ride his big old bike around the block. I went too far off of a curb, and turfed it into the middle of the street. He was upset, and I told him I was sorry about the bike. He told me; "I can get a new bike. I can't get a new you." I think this applies here.

Never had a malfunction with my Glocks, but they do not give me the warm and fuzzies a Beretta 92FS does.

you just need to prove to yourself with XXX amount of rds that your pistol is reliable enough for carry. whatever that means to you. 20 yrs ago tap, rap, bang was an accepted part of carrying a 1911 for me. not any longer though.....

I've got several that have been 100% so far.
G19 - 2000 rds
G33 - 200 rds (it's still new)
Walther P99 40 cal - 600 rds
Steyr M357A1 - 500 rds
Steyr M40 - 500 rds
S&W Sigma 9mm - 200 rds

Those that didn't inspire confidence-
G27- mine was a jammomatic
about a half dozen various 1911's over the years would choke occasionally
dept. issued G22's- mine was good for about 1000 rds till a rail broke off the frame and I observed various other malfunctions with other issued G22's. Some were good and some were not. YMMV

they do not give me the warm and fuzzies a Beretta 92FS does.

I've owned many different guns. That old, trusty 96 I sold gave me the warm fuzzies and I seemed to enjoy shooting it more (maybe it was just fond memories) than some guns I own costing 2-3 times as much. Go figure.

Any 3rd-Generation Smith semiauto
you mean the ones s&w just ceased production on?

Yes, those.

I'm another S&W 3rd gen true-believer, because they've proven themselves to me, and just fit my preferences as personal-defense workhorses.

I carry a 3rd gen 411 every business day, and a 4006 (in a pushbutton lockbox) also stays in my desk at work. A 5904 is my "nightstand" gun. A 3913 is my wife's carry. I own a 4013, (bought used but looks dead-mint-new and so-far I'm inclined to keep it that way so I've never carried it as a CCW), and a 908 is my latest S&W 3rd gen addition, and the only one I've purchased new (from Bud's a month or two ago,) and I'm carrying it more all the time for summer-casual IWB.

I'm not advocating 3rd gens for as "best" for everyone, just answering the OP's question.

M&P .40

Thats more a function of the limited number of autos I own, but I picked it for comfort, heavy (safer to my mind) trigger, the lack of a cocking indicator (XD) and my hideous deformity of "too stupid to hold a glock right without bleeding"

F_M_J, what's wrong with a 3rd Gen S&W? To heavy for ya or not enough plastic?
I have had a few over the years and would put my 4506-1 up against ANY Glock in a reliability test. Will a G21 feed empty brass?

S&W can make more money with "plastic" guns like everybody else, or just charge close to $1800 for steel guns like the 945.

Any of my SIGs ... P220 (German), P220 Carry, P220 Combat or P225 (German). I have a very nice Kimber Tactical Entry II which is now working perfectly with Wilson Combat magazines, but it's too early to say that I trust my life to it. Maybe in a few thousand rounds or so.

Actually, every handgun I have is reliable, or I wouldn't have it.

This. My Glocks, Springfield's, H&K, Kimber, Ed Brown, CZ, etc. If they weren't reliable, they'd be gone :)

Any Beretta, Sig, Springfield, Kahr, or Glock pistol that I own

Beretta: 92FS, M9A1, PX4, PX4sc, CX4, 84F .380
Sig: P220 Elite Dark, P226 Blackwater
Springfield: XD45c, XD9sc, XDM 40, XDM, XDM 3.8
Kahr: PM9 (carry every day)
Glock: 30SF (keep in my truck 100% of time)

All of these are accurate and reliable.

Anything from my WWII Mauser P-08 to a new CZ or HK. They all work.
