Channel 5 in Memphis is gonna do a report on who carries tonight at 5pm. It specifically mentioned our "elected officials" and "being surprised at who's packing." Tune in if ya can.

Thanks for the heads-up. Memphis is pretty gun friendly but I'm sure the report will be overly dramatic.

At least it will not be as bad as when the Communist Appeal published the entire listing of Shebly County permit holders a few years back.

Remember, folks, it's November, so it's Sweeps time. Expect even more silliness than usual from your evening news.

I consider Memphis more of a "Gun Tolerant" more than gun friendly. You can't carry in your vehicle without a permit, and you can forget carrying in a restaurant that serves alcohol regardless if you drink or not. I definitely consider Southaven more Gun Friendly than Memphis. And speaking of Southaven, there is a new indoor gun range there.

Those restrictions are incorporated into state law, not Memphis ordinances. Memphis is about the same as most cities in TN, which is to say far better than most big cities in the nation, but not as friendly as the rural areas.

Pebcac-
when were you there, I work there most weekends. also where is the friggin quote button?

ok I agree about the state law part, but I hardly consider Southaven a rural area. Many people commute into and out of Memphis for work that live in Southaven.

I for one am pleased that my state protects this sort of information.

jimmyjoebob, no problem. But there again, it's the state law that makes the difference. This is one area that TN's law sucks.

Pebcac-
ok I think I know who ya are we discussed "dirty ammo" right? If that was you definitely introduce yourself next time!

Also you do know we have IDPA on friday night right? Come on out! The rest of the guys are good fellas, but no where near as good looking as I am!:D

I will hold a vow of silence on the grouping, but to be honest I didn't see them:D

you' re right, didn't I read earlier this year that the TFA was trying to have the law changed about restaurants, as well as being able to carry non lethal weapons( like an ASP baton) as well? What ever happened with all that.

Oh yeah thread hijack I do apologize don't thump me too hard!;)

You know, I'd forgotten about the CA publishing the list of permit holders. If I recall the timing correctly, I might've had a TN permit at the time (I've since moved south). I wasn't paying for a copy just to see my name in print, though! Best use for the CA is cat-box liner. Although you can't really line the cat box with TV5, it would be nice. Sensationalist journalism at its finest. I honestly remember those boneheads breaking into a certain highly-rated medical drama to display their new "Breaking News" graphic, complete with ultra-dramatic music, because the power was out at the shopping mall!!!

I really think that, the closer we get to the Clinton bill expiration date, the more of this crap we'll see. It starts with simply getting gun stories on the air, and then spinning them negatively. I am interested, however, in seeing how many of the local gun-control-spouting Democrats are hypocrites (hint: all of them, though not necessarily on this particular issue).

jimmyjoebob - that dirty ammo sprinkled me liberally with chunks of carbon, as usual! :) I also noticed some of the cases bulged a bit around the base of the bullet, but just on one side. I guess maybe some of that brass was worn out. I'll be sure to introduce myself next trip, but the IDPA will hafta wait until I can get a holster - and shoot respectable groups again!

Pebcac-
sure thing please do, as for IDPA, heck I can loan ya a Fobus, as for groups, bahh, you get them on target that is all that counts!:)
Come on out it is fun.

James

Well, no mention of the story I promise they talked about this morning. I know I didnt dream up the title "Who's Packing". Sorry if I mislead yall. Maybe it will be on a 6.:(

I didn't really want to leave Montana, they have few gun laws and guns are considered utilitarian rather than the evil wand that others see them as.
But, I am glad to say, TN is almost as good regarding guns as MT is.
