Why are chrome lined barrels less accurate?

Mr 556,

Above you have got the answers.

"I see everywhere that chrome lined barrels are supposedly less accurate than stainless steel or chrome-moly barrels. Is this true? If so, why? I'm just curious and I've tried searching for the answer and I can't find anything. If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance."

Lets boil it all down a little.
Quality barrels are cut with great care. The ones that are chromed are cut a little bigger and given a very precise coating of special chrome. The sharp and precise cuts in the barrel are coated and just a little softer, not as in metal strength but rounding of those edges. Any little imperfection would be amplified.
For the bench shooter, why take the chance.
For most people, the degradation in accuracy, if any, is not noticeable. This is with quality barrels.
With this disadvantage (each barrel is better and worse than the next, of the same type), why go to the expense and effort? For me, easier cleaning. For others, longer hot barrel life (this too can be questioned).

It comes down to personnel preference and if you are bull headed like me, my mind will not be changed no matter how much proof you throw at me.

So, are non-chrome barrels more accuracy? Yes..... No.... Depends on the barrel. But, I don't care, I get what I want.
