Why does trigger pull on Sig 232 feel "spongy"?

Pardon my ignorance of the proper terminology.
The gun is almost new and in near-mint condition, but I can't remember such a feeling in the trigger (reset?) in other handguns.

That shop in Cordova TN had another used 232 and a pair of 230s, with all having the same feel at the End of the DA trigger pull.
My only other Sig exposure was in 9mm Luger, either a 226, possibly 228.

Not too sure about "spongy" in mine.

I note that when engaging the trigger in double action, about halfway along its travel there is a noticeable though mild change in "pull" as the duck tail at the end of the trigger bar causes the bar to travel slightly downward - on its way forward - to pass the hammer pin.

In single action or for follow-on shots, this is not the case and travel is significantly shortened as well.

Only my take, with my SIG, mind.
Todd.
