Why hasn't Glock invented a .45ACP long slide?

Since there are only 21 Glock handgun models out there, let's add one more:

A long slide tactical/practical model in .45ACP, 5.3" barrel; similar to the model 34/35.

Why haven't they made a .45 in long slide, since the G34/35 are the same length as 1911s?

Would the width of the slide be too wide to sit on the receiver?

I doubt they think that one would sell many units; most of the long-slide pistols are used in USPSA competition, and since the .40 already makes Major, why would anyone choose one in a more-expensive-to-feed chambering? They COULD do it without much problem, but the frame would have to be the same width as the 20/21.

AFAICT, Glock prefers to build utility pistols.

Yes, I know, they have built "competition" guns. I had a 17L--that's why I say they build utility pistols.

Lone Wolf (I think...) offers long slides for the large frame glocks, as well as 6" barrels. A few guys have made "Practical/Tactical" .45 and 10mm over on glocktalk.

Indeed, Lone Wolf Distributors offer a .45 ACP Longslide, but seasonally. These are German-made and sell out quickly.

Supposedly they (LWD) are in the process of producing their own line of stainless steel longslides for all calibers, using existing full size 3rd Gen Glock frames.

Attached is a pic of a GT member's multi-caliber Glock Longslide. The author did not sign his work...

I have a 17L early number xx123 and a std slide xx456 just sent them to Glock to have some warranty upgrade done on them, it is not supposed to cost anything:) I like my 17L, have had no trouble with it. I like it because it has a 3.5 trigger pull. High cap mags are nice also. Bought it in 1988.

Jim H. Did you dislike your 17L?
