Why no love for the 7.62x54r???

I don't think the thumbhole is legal here in NY on a semiauto.
In the socialist republic of ny, not much is legal, but when I was searching for mine I did see parts listed for them as well. There might be something out there that's legal. Check the laws too, most places thumb holes are legal, just not a pistol grip that's not connected to the stock completely.

Though, now that you mention it, I don't see how it would be any different than a thordsen stock on an AR.

Most states even very strict ones do allow a thumb hole stock as long as it is fully connected and does not have a separate pistol grip. I would definitely check into it and find your dream gun!
