A while ago I found a used XD-9 service model for $300, got it for my wife, for her primary pistol. It was so new, if it had ever been fired, I couldn't tell. We both love the sucker, shoot it all we can afford.
So on a facebook group of "professionals" someone added me to, I got universally sneered at for saying I own one and like it. I told them I wasn't interested in the opinions of people I had never met, and were neither responsible for my safety nor accountable for my actions. I tell my concealed carry students to try different guns, and keep what works best for them, and no one else's opinion counts more than their gut. (I also let them know, if they grow to not like it, or find something later they like better, they can change, they won't have to pay it alimony.)
They said a Glock is a real gun, XDs are junk. I pointed out that many won't touch a Glock because you have to pull the trigger to strip it. I carried a Glock for years, and I can run one just fine, but I like the feel of the XD better, and I like the trigger a LOT better. I think the XD, like pretty much ALL modern polymer-frame pistols, will last a lot longer than I actually plan to shoot it.
I'm sticking with; "It works for me and my wife, I like it, so I will stick with what works." Is there anything about an XD I should know about?
