Why would a two-stage trigger be considered mo' better than a single-stage trigger for an AR?

I can't really give you a technical reason for it. But I can tell you that the 2 stage on my AR helps me to control my "squeeze" over the natural jerk of the trigger. It is also the smoothest trigger I have ever felt. Then again, I have never felt a 2 stage before.

'Cause the Almighty intended for rifles to have two stage triggers?

Or, maybe all the better battle rifles of old had two-stage triggers?

I like a two-stage myself.

In the case of a high power AR15 service rifle, they're required to have a trigger pull of no less than 4.5 lbs. 4.5 lbs is still a relatively heavy trigger, especially compared to a match rifle trigger. A two stage allows you to have, say, a lighter 3.5 lbs initial pull and a 1 lbs second stage. Makes a relatively heavy trigger feel lighter than it really is.

I just paid for the 2 stage...

And I wasn't too sure I really wanted one until I actually tried one (one someone else's AR) and it delivers the perception of a lighter trigger pull - the true break is, say, 4.5 lbs., but because the initial stage is lighter and the increment is small to get to 4.5, it just feels lighter. It's not particularly important for CQB or kickin' doors in (though it probably doesn't hurt and might help when reachin' out to touch someone...), but for long range CMP high power matches, it almost mandatory. That 4.5 single-stage feels like 14.5 lbs by the 20th off hand shot!

" It's really simple, just focus on the front sight...yeah right!"

everything above, plus some people like to prep the trigger when they shoot.. like me.
