I just picked up a Wilson 47d 8rd mag for my newish Springfield 1911 Loaded. When I try to return the slide from locked position, the slide release won't budge. I can tell the magazine shape is interfering with the slide release. Does anybody have any ideas on this one?

is the magazine loaded? only loaded mags will allow the slide to be released easily.

Drop the mag out of the pistol before you release the slide with the slide stop. Don't let it slam shut when no round is in the mag.

If you don't have ammunition in the magazine the follower is supposed to push up the slide stop. That's what gives you "last round hold open".

Sounds like your magazine is working as it's supposed to work, as mdguy90 and jfrey (and I/me) are telling you.

Didn't your original magazines do the same thing?

I am guessing his OE SA mag didin't have as strong a spring, so it probably didn't prevent release of the slide stop when inserted and empty. The Wilsons, from what I understand, use much stiffer springs to ensure positive feeding with their less-controlled feeding system.
